- • Senior Backend Engineer role focused on building an AI-powered platform within Toptal’s Core Team, contributing to internal products and tools powered by Ruby on Rails.
- • Write elegant, efficient, and testable Ruby and/or TypeScript code; cover code with tests; perform manual testing; review peers’ work; collaborate with Infrastructure Engineers on infrastructure components.
- • Mentor team members, improve team processes, brainstorm ideas, communicate status and progress, and continuously grow as a professional while learning new technologies.
- • Join a global, fully remote workforce at Toptal — the world’s largest remote talent network — where innovation, speed, and breaking the mold are encouraged across Europe and South America.
- • Gain deep expertise in Toptal’s technical stack, collaboration rituals, and performance over time; lead technical initiatives, drive codebase and process improvements, and mentor new team members within the first year.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of web development experience with Ruby/Rails
- • 5+ years of experience with SQL databases
- • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, automated software testing, and development methodologies
- • Ability to consider multiple quality dimensions including user impact, failure tolerance, code maintenance, implementation time, security, and performance
- • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment and handle diverse challenges and deadlines
