- • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Golang microservices to support Weave’s all-in-one healthcare platform.
- • Drive technical architecture decisions and contribute to long-term system health by anticipating scaling needs, performance bottlenecks, and maintenance requirements for critical production systems.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver high-impact features that improve operational efficiency for 40,000+ healthcare practices.
- • Participate in system design reviews, propose robust solutions, and contribute to Weave’s overall engineering strategy with a focus on reliability and scalability.
- • Own the quality, reliability, and observability of backend services from development through production, ensuring adherence to SLAs/SLOs and implementing monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes.
- • Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to critical production incidents, provide hands-on support during outages, and mentor team members through complex system failures.
- • Mentor peers and junior engineers by sharing knowledge, encouraging best practices, and promoting engineering excellence across the team.
- • Help plan and execute engineering projects from inception to delivery, taking full ownership of outcomes and timelines with an outcome-oriented mindset.
- • Break down monolithic systems into modular microservices using gRPC, protobufs, or Temporal, improving system resilience and maintainability.
- • Deploy and maintain services in cloud environments, primarily Google Cloud Platform (GCP), leveraging containerization tools like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
- • Implement and utilize observability tooling including metrics, distributed tracing, and logging to ensure system transparency and rapid issue resolution.
- • Write code with both immediate functionality and long-term scalability in mind, actively managing technical debt to ensure sustainable development velocity.
- • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to align cross-functional teams on system goals and constraints.
- • Contribute to defining and upholding operational excellence standards, including incident post-mortems, automated testing, and deployment pipelines for backend services.
- • Work in a deeply collaborative environment with teammates across the U.S. and India, aligning on architecture, priorities, and engineering practices.
- • Ensure all systems support Weave’s mission of elevating patient experience by enabling healthcare providers to focus on patient care through efficient, reliable technology.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of backend engineering experience with modern programming languages such as Golang, Java, Python, Ruby, or C# (Golang preferred or willingness to learn)
- • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and backend services
- • Strong understanding of distributed systems and inter-service communication (e.g., protobufs/gRPC, REST, Kafka, Redis)
- • Experience working with relational databases and SQL
- • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation with your team and take responsibility for production systems
