• • We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Backend Engineer to take ownership of and significantly evolve our billing and monetization systems. As LiveKit continues its rapid expansion, scaling to handle billions of metered transactions for our diverse international customer base, the need for dedicated engineering expertise in our invoicing and billing infrastructure has become paramount. • • In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Finance, Customer Support, Go-to-Market (GTM), and Product Management. • • Your core responsibilities will include:
• • Evolving and enhancing our comprehensive billing and monetization platform, ensuring the utmost accuracy in invoicing, the reliability of revenue capture, and a consistently seamless billing experience for all our customers.
• • Designing, developing, and implementing robust systems to manage plans, pricing structures, usage tracking, discounts, credits, and refund processes. These systems will be engineered to support flexible packaging options and enable rapid experimentation by our GTM teams.
• • Significantly improving financial correctness and auditability across all billing workflows. This involves strengthening mechanisms for reconciliation, ensuring idempotency, enhancing traceability, and implementing robust error recovery procedures.
• • Elevating the observability and reliability of our billing systems. You will ensure comprehensive monitoring, proactive alerting, and detailed diagnostics are in place to detect and address revenue-impacting issues before they affect our customers.
• • Reducing the burden of manual support tasks by developing internal tools and automation. These solutions will streamline the process of issuing adjustments, applying credits, and conducting investigations, making them faster and more self-service oriented for the support team.
• • Partnering strategically with Finance, Support, GTM, and Product teams to foster pricing agility and prepare our architecture for future scale. This includes evolving the system to accommodate new pricing models, advanced usage-based billing scenarios, and international expansion requirements.
• • Meticulously documenting all billing workflows and operationalizing them through comprehensive runbooks and established best practices. This will enhance team confidence, improve response times, and ensure consistent execution.
