- • As a Senior Backend Engineer at Bestow, you will play a pivotal role in modernizing the life insurance industry by building and scaling core infrastructure that enables carriers to launch products in weeks instead of years, directly impacting how millions access financial protection.
- • You will develop and maintain high-performance, secure backend services primarily using Go (Golang) and PostgreSQL, contributing to the platform that powers agent onboarding, policy underwriting, and end-to-end lifecycle management for life insurance products.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean, test-driven code, conducting peer code reviews, resolving production issues, designing and implementing APIs (using Protocol Buffers, OpenAPI, etc.), and ensuring system reliability through unit and integration testing.
- • You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and infrastructure engineers to translate product roadmap goals into scalable technical solutions, while advocating for CI/CD practices, automation, and continuous improvement across the team.
- • You will work with Docker for local development and contribute to microservices architecture, helping to refactor and optimize distributed systems for better performance, observability, and maintainability.

- • Bestow’s engineering organization is structured around product engineering, infrastructure, data & analytics, and IT, fostering cross-functional collaboration and ownership across the full software lifecycle.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in backend systems, distributed architectures, and API design while gaining exposure to regulated industries and the opportunity to influence technical strategy at a high-growth, venture-backed insurtech leader.
- • You will have the chance to grow into technical leadership, mentor peers, and shape engineering standards as Bestow scales its platform to serve more carriers and expand its product offerings.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on backend systems
- • Professional experience with Golang (Go) is preferred
- • Experience with Docker for local development and containerization
- • Experience designing and implementing APIs using Protocol Buffers, OpenAPI, Swagger, RAML, or similar standards
- • Experience with distributed systems or microservices architecture
- • Strong advocate for CI/CD practices and automation in software delivery
