• • As a Senior Backend Engineer (Java) at Welltech Limited, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our innovative health and fitness applications by developing ambitious tech products. You will join our core Payments team, tasked with building a modern, internal payments platform from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to not just maintain existing systems, but to fundamentally rethink and future-proof payment operations for a rapidly scaling global business.
• • Your role will involve collaborating closely with a highly skilled, cross-functional team, including Frontend/Backend Engineers, Infrastructure specialists, Quality Assurance (SDET) professionals, and Product Managers. Together, you will design, develop, and deliver cutting-edge solutions that have a tangible and measurable impact on our users and business operations.
• • A primary responsibility will be translating complex functional and non-functional requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable software. The code you write will directly influence the integrity of our systems and the seamlessness of user experiences, particularly within the critical payments domain.
• • You will be a key contributor to the development, deployment, and ongoing operation of high-performance microservices, primarily utilizing the Spring Boot framework. This includes owning your services end-to-end, from initial design and implementation through to deployment and continuous support, ensuring they meet stringent performance and reliability standards.
• • Operating within cloud-native environments is a core aspect of this role. You will manage deployments and configurations across various Kubernetes clusters, ensuring smooth, efficient rollouts and minimizing downtime in both production and staging environments. This requires a proactive approach to infrastructure management and a deep understanding of cloud-native deployment strategies.
• • You will champion system excellence by taking ownership of the performance, scalability, security, and data consistency of the systems your team is responsible for. This involves proactively identifying performance bottlenecks, potential security vulnerabilities, and areas for architectural improvement, and then implementing robust solutions.
• • Driving engineering best practices is crucial. You will promote a culture of clean code, comprehensive test automation, continuous integration, and adherence to DevOps principles. Your contributions will elevate the overall engineering culture through thoughtful code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions (tech talks), and active collaboration with peers.
• • As a senior member of the team, you will mentor and lead by example. This includes providing technical guidance and support to junior team members, leading team-level product and engineering initiatives, influencing coding standards and architectural decisions, and supporting your team in making critical, high-impact decisions.
