📋 Description

• As a Senior Backend Engineer at NIRA, you will be at the forefront of developing and scaling a cutting-edge consumer credit platform designed to serve the vast, underserved population of Middle India. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic engineering team and play a pivotal role in shaping the technical strategy and product roadmap of a rapidly growing fintech company.
• You will be instrumental in enhancing the scalability and robustness of our platform, ensuring it can handle an ever-increasing volume of loan applications and a growing customer base. This involves architecting and implementing solutions that can support millions of users across thousands of cities.
• A key aspect of your role will be to expand the platform's capabilities to seamlessly integrate and manage multiple financial products and their underlying instruments. This requires a deep understanding of financial systems and the ability to design flexible, extensible backend services.
• You will contribute directly to the iteration and improvement of our credit policy and decision-making systems. This involves collaborating closely with data scientists, credit analysts, and finance teams to refine algorithms and enhance the accuracy and efficiency of our credit assessment processes.
• This position demands a proactive and collaborative approach, working in close partnership with the local NIRA Engineering team in Bengaluru and aligning with the broader APAC Engineering team to ensure cohesive development and consistent scaling strategies.
• You will engage with cross-functional teams, including Product, Credit/Finance, Compliance, Support, and Analytics, to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and ensure the platform meets all regulatory and operational needs.
• Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-quality backend services and APIs that form the backbone of our financial platform.
• You will be expected to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the stability and performance of the production environment.
• The role offers significant autonomy and ownership, encouraging a product-centric mindset where you will own your solutions from conception through to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• You will contribute to architectural discussions, helping to define best practices and technical standards for the engineering team.

• Strong proficiency in Java, with demonstrated experience in building scalable backend systems.
• Proven experience working in AWS-native environments, utilizing services such as DynamoDB, Athena, and Lambda.
• Demonstrated experience in scaling technical solutions and increasing platform scalability.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate technical solutions effectively to diverse teams.
