- • Senior Backend Engineer (PHP/Rust migration) role at SouthGeek S.A., supporting a fintech client that builds secure payment and prepaid card solutions for public sector organizations, enabling government agencies to replace cash and paper checks with digital systems for efficient, transparent fund distribution.
- • Develop and maintain backend functionality in a mature PHP-based payment processing platform, contributing to weekly production releases, troubleshooting complex distributed system issues, and supporting gradual migration of selected systems to Rust while ensuring high observability and recoverability.
- • Work with a long-lived PHP codebase in a LAMP environment, maintaining and evolving critical financial workflows, participating in code reviews, and collaborating through technical discussions to uphold code quality and system stability.
- • Support system observability by enhancing logging, monitoring, and debugging tools, investigating production data or processing issues, and helping maintain stable deployment cycles in a Unix/Linux-based server environment.
- • Gain deep domain expertise in government payment systems and financial technology, while growing technical skills in both legacy PHP modernization and emerging Rust-based infrastructure through hands-on migration work.

🎯 Requirements
- • Senior-level experience developing backend systems in PHP, preferably within a LAMP-based architecture.
- • Strong experience with MySQL and relational database design, including schema optimization and query performance.
- • Proven ability to maintain and evolve large, long-lived codebases, including debugging production systems and investigating complex data or processing issues.
- • Solid understanding of Unix/Linux environments and server-based application development, including command-line tools and service management.
- • Experience with automated testing practices and maintaining large test suites to ensure reliability.
- • Familiarity with message queues, logging systems, or asynchronous processing architectures.
