Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join Mochi Health as a Senior Backend Engineer on the Provider Experience team and architect the systems that power how millions of patients discover, evaluate, and book the right healthcare providers. You will own the design, development, and scaling of our provider-facing APIs, data pipelines, and integration layers that sit at the heart of our discovery engine.
- • Your code will directly influence how quickly a patient can match with a specialist who accepts their insurance, speaks their language, and has availability within days—not weeks. Every optimization you ship reduces friction in one of the most stressful moments of a person’s life.
- • Lead the evolution of our provider profile service from a monolithic Django app to a resilient, event-driven microservice architecture. You will define service boundaries, choose the right data stores (Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch), and implement patterns that guarantee sub-100 ms response times even when traffic spikes 10× during open-enrollment periods.
- • Build and maintain high-throughput ETL pipelines that ingest, normalize, and enrich provider data from dozens of sources—insurance networks, state licensing boards, NPPES, and real-time scheduling systems. You will write idempotent jobs that reconcile conflicting records, surface data-quality anomalies, and automatically flag providers whose credentials are about to expire.
- • Design secure, HIPAA-compliant APIs that expose granular provider information to our web and mobile clients while enforcing fine-grained authorization rules. You will implement OAuth 2.0 scopes, audit logging, and rate-limiting strategies that satisfy both enterprise partners and individual developers.
- • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists to translate fuzzy user needs into precise technical specifications. You will run architecture reviews, write detailed RFCs, and mentor junior engineers through pair programming and thoughtful code reviews.
- • Instrument everything. You will add distributed tracing, custom metrics, and alerting rules so that we detect anomalies before patients feel them. When PagerDuty fires at 3 a.m., you will be the calm engineer who rolls back a bad deploy, writes a post-mortem, and ships a regression test so it never happens again.
- • Champion engineering excellence across the organization. You will introduce contract testing between services, codify our branching strategy, and automate security scanning in CI/CD so that every pull request is a small, safe step forward.
- • Shape the technical roadmap for 2025 and beyond. You will evaluate whether GraphQL federation, temporal workflows, or a Rust-based service mesh can unlock new product capabilities while keeping operational costs flat.
- • Work fully remote with teammates across North America and Europe. We default to asynchronous communication (Notion, Loom, GitHub discussions) and reserve two 90-minute “core collaboration” windows per week so you can protect deep-work time and still feel connected to the mission.
