📋 Description

• As a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) at SplitMetrics Inc., you will play a critical role in advancing the company’s AI-powered mobile marketing ecosystem by designing and building scalable backend systems that power intelligent agent workflows, RAG pipelines, and LLM-integrated services used by top global brands.
• Your work will directly impact the performance, reliability, and innovation of SplitMetrics’ core products — including SplitMetrics Acquire, Optimize, and App Radar — enabling data-driven growth for mobile-first businesses through cutting-edge AI infrastructure.
• You will design and build backend services in Python using FastAPI and FastMCP, focusing on high-throughput, low-latency systems that support AI agent orchestration and real-time data processing.
• You will implement MCP (Model Context Protocol) tool schemas and agent-ready workflows, enabling seamless integration between LLMs, internal tools, and external services through standardized interfaces.
• You will build and optimize async pipelines using asyncio, managing concurrent I/O, task orchestration, background jobs, and resource scheduling to ensure efficient handling of LLM calls and data retrieval operations.
• You will integrate with LLM services by crafting effective prompts, parsing structured outputs, managing token usage and costs, and implementing retry logic and fallback mechanisms for robust AI interactions.
• You will develop RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines, including embedding generation, vector search strategies, chunking techniques, and retrieval ranking to improve the accuracy and relevance of AI-generated responses.
• You will research and prototype emerging AI approaches, benchmarking models, evaluating retrieval methods, and experimenting with agent architectures to turn R&D insights into production-ready features.
• You will design and track experiments, monitor quality metrics (e.g., precision, recall, latency, cost), and translate findings into iterative improvements in AI system performance.
• You will develop secure, well-documented APIs for AI agents and internal dashboards, enabling both automated workflows and human-in-the-loop monitoring and control.
• You will ensure system stability, observability, and cost-efficient inference through logging, metrics collection (Prometheus), error tracking (Sentry), and proactive performance tuning.
• You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in a remote-first, supportive culture spanning 20+ countries, contributing to shared OKRs and participating in team retrospectives, tech talks, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in Python backend development
• Strong proficiency with async web frameworks, particularly FastAPI or similar
• Deep understanding of asyncio concepts including gather, semaphores, task groups, and error propagation
• Advanced PostgreSQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, and query optimization
• Experience with microservice architectures, long-running jobs, retry mechanisms, and failure handling
• Foundational observability skills using logging, Prometheus, and Sentry
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS infrastructure
• Practical experience integrating with LLMs, including prompt design, API calls, response handling, and retry strategies
