- • Senior Backend Engineer role focused on building scalable backend services for the Multilingual Intelligence & Resolution Automation (MIRA) team, powering real-time, AI-driven customer support systems used across Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo.
- • Design, build, and operate scalable backend services; develop and evolve AI-powered translation capabilities using LLMs in production; build tooling and infrastructure to evaluate models across quality, latency, and cost; collaborate with product, applied science, frontend, and platform teams; take ownership of technical decisions and shape system architecture; improve performance, reliability, and operational readiness of services handling real production traffic; continuously improve development workflows using AI tools.
- • Part of a global engineering organization of 2000+ engineers at Wolt Enterprises Oy, now part of DoorDash, operating in over 500 cities across 30 countries; the MIRA team builds intelligent, AI-powered systems to make customer support borderless, including a real-time translation engine supporting 20+ languages.
- • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI and LLMs in high-impact production use cases; shape the architecture and future direction of a globally scaled system; grow technical leadership and expertise in scalable backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and AI integration while contributing to technology that enables cross-language, cross-border customer experiences.
🎯 Requirements
- • Solid experience designing, building, and integrating quality software (microservices) at scale within a complex domain
- • Strong backend development skills in Python or Go (interest in other tech is highly appreciated)
- • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or similar), container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), observability tools (such as DataDog), and database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)
- • Strong technical leadership skills
- • Stakeholder management skills are excellent
- • Comfortable working with real-world data and its nuances
