• • As a Senior Backend Java Engineer at Welltech, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our internal payments platform, a critical component for our rapidly scaling global health and fitness applications.
• • You will join a dedicated Payments team, tasked with building a modern, robust, and scalable payment infrastructure from the ground up, moving beyond legacy systems to create a future-proof solution.
• • This role offers a unique opportunity to work on technically challenging projects that have a direct and measurable impact on the business, contributing to the seamless operation of over 200 million app installs worldwide.
• • You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of high-performance microservices, utilizing cutting-edge technologies and cloud-native principles.
• • Collaborate closely with a diverse, cross-functional team, including Frontend and Backend Engineers, Infrastructure specialists, Quality Assurance Engineers (SDETs), and Product Managers, to translate complex requirements into elegant and efficient software solutions.
• • Design, develop, and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend systems that form the backbone of our payment processing capabilities.
• • Leverage your expertise in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem to build and operate sophisticated microservices, ensuring they are performant, secure, and resilient.
• • Take ownership of your services, from initial design and implementation through to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support in cloud-native environments.
• • Work extensively with Kubernetes, managing deployments and configurations across various clusters to ensure smooth, reliable releases and minimal downtime in both production and staging environments.
• • Champion system excellence by taking direct responsibility for the performance, scalability, security, and data consistency of the systems your team owns.
• • Proactively identify performance bottlenecks, potential security vulnerabilities, and areas for architectural improvement, proposing and implementing effective solutions.
• • Drive the adoption and adherence to engineering best practices, including clean code principles, comprehensive test automation, continuous integration, and robust DevOps methodologies.
• • Elevate the team's engineering culture through active participation in thoughtful code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, technical presentations, and collaborative problem-solving.
• • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their growth and development.
• • Lead team-level product and engineering initiatives, influencing coding standards and best practices, and supporting the team in making critical technical decisions.
• • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Payments team, helping to define the technical roadmap and architectural vision for our payment systems.
• • Ensure the integrity and security of sensitive financial data, adhering to industry best practices and compliance requirements.
• • Develop and maintain APIs and communication protocols, ensuring seamless integration with internal and external systems.
• • Participate in on-call rotations to support the operational health of the payment platform, responding to incidents and ensuring rapid resolution.
• • Continuously learn and stay abreast of new technologies and industry trends, bringing innovative ideas and approaches to the team.
