- • As a Senior Benefits Underwriter at Ryans Goh Holdings Sdn. Bhd., you will be at the forefront of shaping and refining our employee benefits insurance underwriting processes. This pivotal role involves developing robust policies and procedures, identifying critical areas for improvement, and ultimately ensuring the profitable, long-term growth of our healthcare business segment. You will be instrumental in evaluating and approving insurance applications, with a specific focus on employee benefits, acting as a key liaison between various departments to achieve strategic objectives.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass the creation and meticulous updating of underwriting policies and guidelines, ensuring they remain current, compliant, and effective in managing risk. You will be tasked with thoroughly evaluating the inherent risks associated with insurance applications, making informed decisions on appropriate coverage levels, and conducting detailed reviews, analyses, and inspections of insurance risks to maintain portfolio health.
- • You will serve as a subject matter expert, providing invaluable guidance and advice to staff on underwriting processes, risk management strategies, rating methodologies, and regulatory compliance. A core aspect of your role will be to ensure that all underwriting activities strictly adhere to established procedures and all relevant regulations, safeguarding the company against potential liabilities and maintaining market integrity.
- • A significant part of your role will involve overseeing and ensuring that your team effectively services assigned accounts and provides comprehensive support to brokers. This collaborative effort will be conducted in conjunction with other Underwriting and Sales team members within your designated territory, fostering a cohesive and results-driven approach.
- • You will be responsible for adhering to a rigorous quarterly audit process, aiming for 100% timely compliance and proactively taking necessary actions to address any audit recommendations or findings, thereby upholding the highest standards of operational excellence.
- • Close collaboration with other functional areas is essential for success. You will work hand-in-hand with Claims, Actuarial, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Compliance departments, sharing insights and coordinating efforts to ensure seamless operations and strategic alignment across the organization.
- • You will lead and mentor your underwriting team, fostering their professional development and guiding them towards achieving overall Ryan Specialty goals in collaboration with Distribution. You will share responsibility for meeting overall revenue targets through successful new business acquisition and high client retention rates, contributing directly to the company's financial success.
- • Providing ongoing coaching, support, and educational programs will be crucial to developing the underwriting team’s expertise and ensuring they are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills. This commitment to team development will empower them to handle increasingly complex underwriting challenges and contribute more effectively to the company's mission.
- • Ultimately, you will ensure that all underwriting activities are conducted in full compliance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements, maintaining the company's reputation and adherence to industry standards. This includes staying abreast of evolving regulations and implementing necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in fields such as business, finance, economics, or a related field.
- • 7+ years of Health Insurance Underwriting experience.
- • Experience with Stop Loss insurance is preferred.
- • Proven ability to develop and update underwriting policies and guidelines.
- • Strong understanding of risk evaluation, coverage determination, and regulatory compliance in the insurance industry.
