📋 Description

  • FinFit is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to become an integral part of our dynamic Finance and Accounting team. This pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing the critical flow of accounts payable payments and managing the internal movement of funds related to FinFit loan collections. A key aspect of this position involves meticulously cross-checking each transaction to ensure absolute accuracy and confirming that all necessary documentation is in place. The Staff Accountant will also be tasked with reviewing account transactions, identifying trends, and proactively developing or investigating innovative methods to enhance the efficiency of request processing. A significant component of this role includes cultivating and maintaining excellent relationships with FinFit's valued vendors and partners, while also fostering strong collaborative ties with other members of the accounting team. This position reports directly to the Controller, offering a clear line of communication and mentorship.
  • In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth financial operations of FinFit. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Downloading daily bank exports and meticulously loading them into our Reconciliation Tool (Townebank), ensuring data integrity and completeness for accurate financial reporting.
  • Conducting thorough research and validation of ACH returns and Positive Pay transactions, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies to mitigate financial risk.
  • Importing the Positive Pay file to the bank on a daily basis, a critical step in fraud prevention and maintaining the security of our financial assets.
  • Initiating daily fundings, ensuring timely disbursement of funds to support business operations and partner agreements.
  • Managing and initiating internal transfers between accounts, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with internal policies.
  • Initiating payments to vendors and partners as needed, ensuring accuracy, proper authorization, and adherence to payment schedules.
  • Posting cash receipts accurately and efficiently, ensuring that all incoming funds are correctly recorded and reconciled.
  • Collaborating with the Controller and other finance team members on various accounting projects and initiatives, contributing to the overall financial health of the company.
  • Developing a deep understanding of FinFit's financial processes and systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
  • Maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Contributing to the month-end and year-end close processes by preparing necessary journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Assisting with audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
  • Staying abreast of accounting regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.
  • Proactively communicating any potential issues or concerns to the Controller in a timely manner.
  • Embracing a culture of continuous learning and improvement, seeking opportunities to expand your accounting knowledge and skills.
  • Contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment, supporting colleagues and sharing knowledge.

🎯 Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with formulas, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, with a preference for SAGE100.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate financial information clearly.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills, essential for managing financial data accurately.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial documents and reports effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, especially in a remote setting.
