Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own and continuously refine the end-to-end catalog automation pipeline for Careem’s multi-vertical marketplace (food, groceries, pharmacies, and more), ensuring every menu, SKU, and promotion is accurate, complete, and live within minutes of onboarding.
- • Design, test, and scale Python-based ETL workflows that ingest raw merchant data—CSV, PDF menus, APIs, scraped web pages—and transform them into structured, taxonomy-compliant catalog assets that power search, recommendations, and pricing engines across the MENA region.
- • Build and maintain robust data-quality dashboards in SQL and Tableau that surface real-time anomalies (missing images, duplicate SKUs, price outliers) to operations teams in Dubai, Karachi, and Cairo, cutting manual review time by 40 % and boosting customer NPS.
- • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Machine-Learning teams to translate business rules (halal tags, allergen flags, delivery radius constraints) into automated checks, ensuring 99.5 % catalog accuracy before items ever reach the Careem app.
- • Act as the primary point of escalation for high-impact merchant launches—such as 24-hour hyper-local grocery chains or nationwide QSR rollouts—coordinating across menu digitization vendors, pricing analysts, and content studios to hit aggressive go-live targets.
- • Run weekly A/B experiments on catalog presentation (image ratios, cuisine filters, promotional badges) and feed statistically significant findings back to the Growth team, directly influencing conversion-rate uplifts worth millions of dollars in annual GMV.
- • Mentor junior associates on SQL best practices, Git workflows, and agile sprint rituals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the remote-first Catalog Operations squad.
- • Monitor regional regulatory changes (VAT updates, calorie-labeling laws) and rapidly deploy configuration changes across all markets, safeguarding Careem’s compliance record and protecting brand trust.
- • Own vendor scorecards for offshore menu-capture partners, negotiating SLAs, tracking OCR accuracy, and driving quarterly business reviews that keep per-item processing costs under $0.03 while maintaining 98 % first-time-right quality.
- • Champion automation opportunities beyond menus—exploring auto-generation of promotional banners, dynamic pricing rules, and AI-driven cuisine classification—to future-proof Careem’s catalog as new verticals like pharmaceuticals and electronics scale.
- • Present bi-weekly impact reports to senior leadership, translating technical metrics (automation coverage %, defect leakage, pipeline latency) into clear business outcomes: faster merchant onboarding, higher customer satisfaction, and increased revenue per session.
- • Stay ahead of industry trends—whether it’s LLM-powered menu parsing or real-time inventory sync—and prototype proofs-of-concept that keep Careem at the cutting edge of marketplace catalog technology in the Middle East and North Africa.
