Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the design, development, and validation of next-generation clinical quality measures (CQMs) that will directly influence how millions of Americans receive and experience healthcare. Your work will shape national policy, provider reimbursement, and patient outcomes.
- • Translate complex clinical guidelines, evidence-based research, and regulatory requirements into precise, actionable electronic specifications (eCQMs) for use in EHRs, registries, and payer systems. You will author measure logic in CQL, HQMF, and FHIR formats, ensuring seamless integration across diverse health IT environments.
- • Serve as the primary clinical and technical liaison to federal agencies (CMS, CDC, ONC), national quality forums, and multi-stakeholder committees. Present findings, defend measure rationale, and incorporate feedback that refines measures for maximum clinical relevance and feasibility.
- • Conduct rigorous gap analyses of existing quality measure portfolios to identify under-represented conditions, vulnerable populations, and high-impact care processes. Propose innovative measures that address disparities in maternal health, behavioral health, chronic disease management, and social determinants of health.
- • Orchestrate end-to-end testing and pilot implementations with health systems, payers, and health IT vendors. Design test cases, oversee data extraction, and perform statistical validation to confirm measure reliability, validity, and usability in real-world clinical workflows.
- • Mentor junior analysts and clinical informaticians, cultivating a culture of scientific rigor, collaborative problem-solving, and continuous learning. Provide structured feedback on measure logic, narrative rationales, and implementation strategies to elevate team capabilities.
- • Author comprehensive technical documentation, user guides, and change logs that enable seamless adoption by measure stewards, EHR developers, and quality reporting entities. Ensure every specification is accompanied by clear value sets, code mappings, and implementation tips.
- • Monitor post-implementation performance of measures across diverse settings, analyzing trends in adherence, unintended consequences, and health equity impacts. Recommend iterative refinements that keep measures aligned with evolving clinical science and policy priorities.
- • Contribute to AIR’s thought leadership by publishing peer-reviewed articles, presenting at national conferences, and participating in open-source communities advancing clinical quality measurement standards. Your insights will inform the future architecture of digital quality measurement.
- • Leverage advanced analytics (Python, R, SQL) to interrogate large claims, EHR, and registry datasets, uncovering patterns that inform measure specification, risk adjustment methodologies, and benchmarking strategies. Translate findings into compelling visualizations and executive briefings.
- • Uphold the highest standards of data privacy, security, and ethical research conduct, ensuring all activities comply with HIPAA, HITECH, and institutional review board requirements. Champion patient-centered measurement that respects individual dignity and promotes equitable care.
🎯 Requirements
- • Doctoral or master’s degree in medicine, nursing, public health, health informatics, or related clinical field with 7+ years of progressive experience in clinical quality measure development
- • Demonstrated expertise authoring electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs) using CQL, HQMF, FHIR, and QDM; portfolio must include at least three nationally endorsed measures
- • Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or SAS for large-scale healthcare data analysis and validation of measure performance
- • Strong understanding of US healthcare quality programs (MIPS, HEDIS, Meaningful Use, STAR Ratings) and federal rule-making processes
- • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a track record of presenting to senior government officials, clinical societies, and technical working groups
🏖️ Benefits
- • Part-time schedule (20–24 hours per week) with fully remote, asynchronous collaboration—design your day around peak productivity and personal commitments
- • Competitive annual salary benchmarked against top-tier research institutes, with transparent internal equity reviews and annual merit increases
- • Comprehensive Total Rewards package including 401(k) with 6% employer match, medical/dental/vision coverage for part-time staff, and flexible spending accounts
- • Annual professional development stipend of $3,500 plus paid time to attend leading conferences such as AMIA, NQF, and CMS Quality Conference
- • Generous paid time off (20 days PTO pro-rated for part-time, 10 federal holidays, and flexible winter recess) to ensure sustained creativity and work-life harmony
