- • Join Rackspace Technology, a global leader in digital transformation, as a Senior Cloud Automation Engineer and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our private cloud services. This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage your extensive experience in cloud automation to design, build, and operate sophisticated automation solutions that directly impact our customers' ability to provision and manage their private cloud resources seamlessly.
- • In this critical role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development and maintenance of Airflow Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) and Python connectors. These components are the backbone of our Cloud Management Platform (CMP), enabling the automation of private cloud resource provisioning, de-provisioning, and lifecycle management. Your work will directly translate into enhanced efficiency, reduced operational overhead, and improved service delivery for our diverse client base.
- • You will delve deep into the intricacies of private cloud environments, understanding the underlying infrastructure and developing robust automation workflows that abstract complexity and provide a user-friendly experience through our CMP. This involves not just writing code, but also understanding the broader ecosystem of cloud services and how to integrate them effectively through automation.
- • A significant part of your responsibility will involve designing and implementing scalable and resilient automation solutions. You will need to consider factors such as error handling, monitoring, logging, and security best practices to ensure the reliability and maintainability of the automation pipelines you create. This includes proactive identification and resolution of potential issues before they impact service delivery.
- • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including cloud architects, operations engineers, and product managers, to gather requirements, define automation strategies, and ensure that our solutions align with business objectives and technical roadmaps. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely will be essential in fostering strong working relationships and driving consensus.
- • The role demands a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation within our automation frameworks. You will be encouraged to explore new technologies, tools, and methodologies that can enhance our automation capabilities, streamline processes, and deliver greater value to our customers. This might involve evaluating and integrating new libraries, developing custom operators, or optimizing existing DAGs for performance.
- • You will be instrumental in troubleshooting and debugging complex automation issues that may arise within the CMP or the underlying private cloud infrastructure. This requires a strong analytical mindset, a systematic approach to problem-solving, and the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve issues under pressure.
- • Furthermore, you will contribute to the documentation of automation processes, standards, and best practices. Clear and comprehensive documentation is vital for knowledge sharing, team onboarding, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our automation solutions.
- • This position offers the chance to work remotely, providing flexibility and autonomy while contributing to a globally distributed team. You will be an integral part of a dynamic organization that is committed to empowering businesses through cutting-edge cloud solutions.
- • Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of our private cloud automation. This includes monitoring the performance of Airflow DAGs, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimizations to enhance execution speed and resource utilization.
- • You will also be involved in the development and maintenance of Python-based connectors that interface with various private cloud components and APIs. This requires a strong understanding of API design, data serialization formats (like JSON and XML), and secure authentication mechanisms.
- • The Senior Cloud Automation Engineer will also be expected to mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
- • Ultimately, your success in this role will be measured by the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of the automated workflows you build, directly contributing to Rackspace Technology's reputation for excellence in cloud management and automation.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud automation, infrastructure as code, and software development.
- • Proven expertise in building and maintaining Airflow DAGs for complex automation workflows.
- • Strong proficiency in Python programming, including experience with developing custom connectors and libraries.
- • Deep understanding of private cloud technologies and concepts (e.g., VMware, OpenStack, or similar).
- • Experience with API integrations, RESTful services, and data formats like JSON.
- • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Remote work opportunity, offering flexibility and work-life balance.
- • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
- • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies and contribute to innovative solutions.
- • Professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
- • Collaborative and supportive team environment within a global organization.
