- • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial AI SaaS contracts and other technology and AI-related agreements for a fast-growing startup serving law firms and professional organizations globally.
- • Provide training and develop resources to support sales and cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, and Security.
- • Operate in a high-velocity startup environment with rapid scaling, requiring proactive legal guidance on evolving commercial and AI-related transactions.
- • Collaborate directly with go-to-market, business, and technical teams to ensure efficient execution of customer agreements while maintaining legal compliance.
- • Adapt to a broadening scope of legal responsibilities beyond core commercial contracting, with opportunities to engage in other areas of corporate legal work as the company grows.
- • Maintain a hyper-responsive and service-oriented approach to internal stakeholders, prioritizing speed and clarity in legal counsel without compromising rigor.
- • Apply ninja-like project management skills to juggle multiple high-stakes contracts and deadlines in a dynamic, unstructured environment.
- • Work remotely across the U.S. or on a hybrid model (3 days per week in-office) if based in New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL; or Dallas, TX.
- • Contribute to shaping legal frameworks for generative AI products in a category-defining company with 1,500+ customers in 60+ countries.

- • Engage with world-class investors and enterprise clients, ensuring legal strategies align with business growth and market leadership in AI-powered professional services.
- • Support the company’s mission to make generative AI actionable and useful for legal and professional services through pragmatic, business-aligned legal counsel.
- • Function independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong collaboration across departments to drive consensus and execution.
- • Stay current on emerging legal issues in AI, SaaS licensing, data privacy, and technology commercialization within a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
- • Contribute to building scalable legal processes and templates that reduce friction in customer onboarding and contract lifecycle management.
- • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to non-legal teams, translating complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for sales and product stakeholders.
- • Balance legal risk mitigation with business objectives to enable fast-paced growth without compromising compliance or client trust.
🎯 Requirements
- • A law degree from an accredited law school
- • Admitted to practice law and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction and able to practice in Illinois
- • 10+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience
- • Transactional background, including strong experience with complex SaaS, technology, and/or IP licensing and commercial agreements
- • Ability to think creatively, function independently and work proactively in a fast-paced environment
- • Team-focused and collaborative work style; willingness to build expertise and solve new challenges in an evolving practice
🏖️ Benefits
- • Compensation range of $210,000–$265,000 depending on location
- • Fully remote work option available for U.S.-based candidates
- • Hybrid work model (3 days per week in-office) available for candidates based in New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL; or Dallas, TX
