- • Build and protect Back Market’s reputation across both markets through earned media, influencer engagement, and crisis communications.
- • Develop and maintain deep relationships with journalists and editors covering tech, sustainability, business, and culture in Spain and Germany.
- • Manage and evaluate performance of PR agencies across both markets, ensuring high standards of execution and ROI on communications spend.
- • Cultivate and maintain an active earned influencer community of 5–15 authentic advocates who naturally promote Back Market’s mission.
- • Craft compelling narratives that translate the complexities of the circular economy and refurbished tech into relatable consumer stories.
- • Serve as trusted communications advisor to country managers and marketing leadership, preparing executives for media interviews and public appearances.
- • Develop and execute crisis communications plans with rapid response capabilities for potential reputational risks in Spain and Germany.
- • Coordinate cross-functionally with marketing, brand activism, partnerships, and sustainability teams to ensure consistent messaging and amplified impact.
- • Own the full communications lifecycle—from strategic planning and content creation to media outreach, influencer seeding, and performance measurement.
- • Travel regularly between Spain and Germany to build local relationships, attend events, and collaborate with regional teams.
- • Translate corporate initiatives—such as funding rounds, policy positions, and expansion plans—into media-ready narratives that resonate with national audiences.
- • Drive consumer storytelling around brand trust, product moments, and cultural relevance, ensuring Back Market remains top-of-mind in both markets.
- • Champion sustainability messaging by connecting Back Market’s environmental impact (92% less carbon emissions than new devices) to public conversations about responsible tech consumption.
- • Demonstrate agility in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, balancing multiple priorities with precision and creativity.
- • Operate with autonomy as the primary communications lead for two key European markets, requiring independent judgment and strong decision-making.
- • Maintain direct, trusted relationships with national media influencers and outlets capable of driving meaningful public dialogue.
- • Ensure all communications reflect Back Market’s B Corp values, diversity commitments, and mission-driven culture.
- • Adapt messaging to reflect local cultural nuances while maintaining global brand consistency.
- • Measure and report on communications effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative metrics tied to business goals.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4–8 years leading integrated communications programs for European audiences or equivalent hands-on communications leadership experience
- • Fluent English plus fluent Spanish OR fluent German
- • Proven track record managing PR agencies in European markets and holding them to high performance standards
- • Demonstrated success in building and activating earned influencer communities that drive genuine engagement
- • Experience translating complex topics (e.g., sustainability, circular economy) into compelling consumer-facing narratives
- • Direct, established relationships with journalists who shape national media conversations in Spain or Germany
