📋 Description
- • As the Senior Compliance Manager & MLRO for Canada at Airwallex, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our financial crime compliance operations in Canada are robust, effective, and fully aligned with regulatory requirements.
- • This pivotal role involves taking ownership of Airwallex’s Canadian Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Financial Crime framework, building upon our established global program while expertly adapting it to the specific nuances of the Canadian regulatory landscape.
- • You will be formally appointed as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for Airwallex Canada, a critical designation that places you at the center of our regulatory engagement with key bodies such as FINTRAC (Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada) and the Bank of Canada.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass the meticulous management of day-to-day compliance operations, ensuring seamless execution of customer onboarding and offboarding processes, rigorous approval of Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) measures, and vigilant transaction monitoring to detect and prevent illicit activities.
- • A core function of your role will be the timely and accurate filing of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), a crucial element in combating financial crime and maintaining regulatory trust.
- • You will play an instrumental part in operationalizing the requirements of the Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA), collaborating closely with product development, operations, and internal audit teams to embed compliance from the outset.
- • This collaboration extends to proactively monitoring risk associated with new product launches and ensuring that our compliance infrastructure scales effectively with business growth.
- • You will serve as a key representative of Airwallex in interactions with significant external stakeholders, including FINTRAC, our banking partners, and scheme partners, fostering strong relationships and ensuring clear communication.
- • A significant aspect of your role will involve designing and implementing comprehensive reporting processes. These reports will provide essential insights to senior management, the audit committee, and the board of directors, detailing critical compliance metrics, identifying key risks, and evaluating the overall performance of our compliance program.
- • You will lead and manage remediation efforts stemming from internal audit findings, external compliance reviews, or direct regulatory inquiries, ensuring that identified issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
- • Maintaining the accuracy and currency of local compliance manuals and desk procedures will be paramount, ensuring they reflect the latest Canadian regulations and best practices.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and influence the compliance strategy for a rapidly growing global fintech company within the Canadian market.
- • You will be instrumental in building and nurturing a strong culture of compliance throughout the Canadian operations, acting as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert.
- • The Senior Compliance Manager & MLRO will contribute to the continuous improvement of compliance processes and controls, leveraging data and insights to enhance effectiveness.
- • You will stay abreast of evolving regulatory landscapes and emerging financial crime typologies, proactively adapting our defenses.
- • This position requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to make sound regulatory judgments in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- • You will be empowered to drive initiatives, implement best practices, and contribute to the overall integrity and success of Airwallex in Canada.
- • The role demands a proactive approach to risk management, identifying potential vulnerabilities and implementing mitigation strategies before they materialize.
- • You will be a key point of contact for regulatory examinations and inquiries, ensuring a coordinated and transparent response.
- • This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading global payments and financial platform, contributing directly to its secure and compliant growth in a key market.
