- • As a Senior Credit Risk Portfolio Manager at iwoca, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of small business lending, particularly within our German operations. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and enhance our robust credit risk culture, ensuring that iwoca's growth is both responsible and sustainable. This is a strategic position where your insights will directly influence critical business decisions, including credit policy, risk appetite, funding strategies, and our overall capacity to serve customers with unwavering confidence.
- • You will be the custodian of the credit portfolio for the German market, meticulously monitoring its performance across various dimensions such as product lines, customer segments, and risk tiers. This involves proactively identifying emerging trends, potential risks, and opportunities, and then driving the implementation of effective corrective actions to optimize portfolio health and performance.
- • A key aspect of your role will be to serve as the primary voice of credit risk, delivering clear, concise, and impactful reporting on loss rates and the overall credit profile of the portfolio. This crucial information will be presented to the Risk Committee and senior leadership, enabling informed strategic decision-making at the highest levels of the organization.
- • You will actively contribute to the strategic direction of iwoca by helping to shape and manage the company's credit risk appetite and overarching credit policy. This involves understanding market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and business objectives to set appropriate risk parameters.
- • Collaboration with the Capital Markets team will be essential as you provide compelling, data-driven risk insights to support funding strategies and investor relations. This includes ensuring compliance with performance triggers and concentration limits across various funding facilities, thereby maintaining investor confidence and securing necessary capital.
- • You will act as a cross-functional leader, bringing your deep credit risk expertise to bear on major business initiatives and complex, multi-disciplinary projects. Your ability to translate complex risk concepts into practical business solutions will be invaluable.
- • Leading and developing a team will be a significant part of your responsibilities. You will set a clear agenda for your team, foster a culture of continuous learning and development, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, impactful work. Coaching and mentoring analysts to achieve their full potential will be a key focus.
- • This role demands a strong analytical mindset, honed through experience in quantitative fields such as Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering, or through equivalent practical experience. You will leverage your expertise to dissect complex data, identify patterns, and formulate data-driven strategies.
- • You will be expected to possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a credit risk role, gained either within a traditional lending institution or a fintech environment. This experience should provide you with a deep understanding of credit risk principles and practices.
- • As a data-driven problem-solver, you will be adept at both conceptually framing challenges and executing rigorous technical analyses. Proficiency in Python, including libraries like Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, and Seaborn, as well as strong SQL skills, are essential for this role.
- • The ability to communicate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences is paramount. You will need to effectively convey the implications of your analysis to stakeholders across the business.
- • Experience in managing analysts or small teams, with a demonstrated focus on coaching and professional development, is highly desirable. Your leadership skills will be crucial in guiding your team to success.
- • An execution-focused approach is vital. You must be capable of structuring and driving work forward independently, as well as collaborating effectively within a fast-paced, dynamic environment to achieve objectives.
- • Bonus points will be awarded for experience with advanced analytical techniques such as Monte Carlo simulations, PyMC3, and Bayesian modeling, which can further enhance your ability to model and manage risk.
- • This role offers a competitive salary, with an expected range of £100,000, and the opportunity to discuss your salary expectations during the application process. iwoca is committed to fair compensation, with regular benchmarking and quarterly performance and salary reviews.
