• • Shape the future of global wellness as Senior Data Architect & Data Platform Technical Lead at WellTech Limited, the Barcelona-based scale-up whose apps have already improved the lives of 200 million users. You will own the end-to-end vision, roadmap and execution of our next-generation, cloud-native data platform, turning petabytes of user behaviour, biometrics and subscription data into reliable, real-time insights that power personalised fitness journeys and accelerate revenue growth.
• • Lead, mentor and grow a high-performing pod of 6-10 data engineers; set technical standards, run architecture guilds, conduct code reviews and champion a culture of experimentation, psychological safety and continuous learning. Your leadership will be measured not only by platform uptime and cost-efficiency but by the career progression of every engineer you coach.
• • Architect and deliver a scalable, cost-optimised lake-house on AWS (S3, Redshift Spectrum, Glue, MWAA) that unifies batch & streaming ingestion (Kinesis, Kafka) and supports both data-science feature stores and self-service BI dashboards. You will rationalise 5+ legacy pipelines into a single, event-driven mesh that guarantees <1 min end-to-end latency for real-time in-app recommendations while cutting infra spend by 30 %.
• • Establish enterprise-grade data governance: define canonical data models (star, data-vault, time-series), implement column-level lineage, quality SLAs and automated anomaly detection via Great Expectations & dbt tests; ensure GDPR/CCPA compliance through tag-based access controls, PII tokenisation and audit-grade logging that satisfies external SOC-2 reviews.
• • Partner with Product, Marketing and ML teams to translate business OKRs into technical epics—e.g., build a streaming feature pipeline that feeds TensorFlow models predicting churn 14 days earlier, or design an experimentation warehouse that lets analysts launch A/B tests without Jira tickets. Your designs will directly influence subscription pricing, push-notification timing and workout personalisation algorithms used by millions every morning.
• • Own the CI/CD backbone: extend GitLab CI templates to enable git-push deployments of Airflow DAGs, dbt models and Lambda micro-services; embed automated cost alerts and data-quality gates so that bad data never reaches Looker dashboards. You will also evaluate and prototype next-gen tooling—be it Snowflake native apps, PySpark on EMR or real-time CDC via Debezium—and run controlled PoCs that de-risk strategic bets.
• • Optimise for security, resilience and disaster recovery: design multi-region replication, implement least-privilege IAM roles, orchestrate secrets rotation via AWS Secrets Manager and run quarterly game-day drills simulating region failure. You will keep RPO ≤15 min and RTO ≤1 hr without breaking the bank.
• • Communicate vertically and horizontally: present quarterly architecture decision records (ADRs) to the CTO and CFO, translate cost-per-query into ROI narratives, and publish internal tech blogs that demystify your platform for non-technical stakeholders. Your ability to speak both “bits and business” will secure continued investment and executive sponsorship.
• • Continuously measure what matters: define KPIs such as “data freshness score”, “pipeline reliability %” and “$ per TB scanned”; surface them in Grafana dashboards and review them fortnightly with the VP of Data. You will balance innovation with technical debt, ensuring our platform scales to 500 million installs without re-architecture.
