- • As a Senior Data Engineer at The Zebra, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our understanding and curation of data. Your contributions will be instrumental in unlocking the potential of our rich datasets, enabling us to make more informed and strategic business decisions from day one. This role offers the opportunity to take significant ownership and embrace broad responsibilities within a rapidly expanding company operating in a vast and dynamic industry.
- • Your primary responsibilities will involve the design, development, and implementation of robust ELT/ETL processes and data connectors. You will leverage cutting-edge technologies such as Python, DBT, and Flink, and will be expected to distribute and guide this work effectively among fellow engineers, fostering a collaborative development environment.
- • A key aspect of this role includes contributing to the architectural design of our data warehouse, specifically assisting in the creation of Dimensions and Facts within a starflake schema. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining DBT DAGs (Directed Acyclic Graphs) to ensure the efficient and accurate population of these tables, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- • You will be empowered to explore and evaluate new technologies in the realms of data processing, analytics, and Artificial Intelligence. This involves creating Proof of Concepts (POCs) to assess their viability and potential impact, driving innovation and keeping our data infrastructure at the cutting edge.
- • Collaboration is central to our success. You will work closely with a diverse group of engineers, designers, and Engineering Leadership to rapidly build, iterate, test, and deploy new features and products. Maintaining a high-quality, robust, and scalable codebase will be a continuous focus.

- • You will be instrumental in building and maintaining scalable data pipelines that support critical business functions, from customer analytics to operational reporting. This includes ensuring data quality, reliability, and performance.
- • You will contribute to the evolution of our data modeling strategies, ensuring that our data structures are optimized for analytical querying and business intelligence.

🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional (or comparable) data engineering experience.
- • Proven experience with SQL, Python, DBT, Kafka, and Git.
- • Deep understanding of event streams and stream processing technologies.
- • Strong experience with relational databases and data warehousing concepts (e.g., starflake schema).
- • Comfort and proficiency with the Unix/Linux command line.
