📋 Description

• Build and maintain reliable data pipelines and datasets that power Flex product functionality, including demand/availability signals, aggregations, and monitoring systems critical to energy flexibility operations.
• Evolve Enode’s data platform by assessing current architecture and driving pragmatic, incremental improvements in tooling, processes, and scalability to support growth from early-stage to enterprise-grade reliability.
• Own data quality and trust across the organization by implementing testing frameworks, data lineage definitions, freshness checks, and anomaly detection mechanisms to ensure outputs are accurate and dependable.
• Enable self-serve analytics by creating well-modelled, documented datasets that allow product, commercial, and leadership teams to answer key questions without requiring bespoke engineering support.
• Partner directly with the Data Scientist to support forecasting and analytics initiatives, including data readiness for modelling, feature pipeline development, evaluation workflows, and productionisation of data-driven insights.
• Make high-leverage technology decisions by evaluating tools and processes—knowing when to build, when to buy, and when to leave existing systems unchanged based on operational impact and scalability needs.
• Collaborate closely with product engineers, commercial teams, and leadership to translate business requirements into concrete data solutions that support Flex delivery, billing, customer insights, and executive reporting.
• Operate as a lead in a small 2-person data team with high autonomy, setting priorities, defining standards, and driving execution without heavy process or oversight.
• Design and implement data access controls, governance policies, and cost-aware warehouse usage practices as the organization scales and data usage grows.
• Experiment with AI/ML tools to improve development velocity, automate data quality checks, optimize workflows, or explore new ways of maintaining and enhancing data products.
• Work with messy, real-world upstream data sources from 1000+ devices across 80+ energy hardware brands, managing ambiguity and high-stakes delivery in a fast-moving climate tech environment.
• Balance deep technical execution (e.g., fixing broken pipelines, optimizing feature datasets) with strategic planning (e.g., defining the platform’s direction over the next 6–12 months).
• Contribute to a mission-critical infrastructure layer enabling the energy transition by connecting distributed energy resources like EVs, heat pumps, and home batteries to utilities and energy traders.
• Ensure data platforms support both operational needs (real-time monitoring) and strategic insights (long-term forecasting and market analysis) across Enode’s Connect, Optimize, and Flex products.
• Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders to align on data needs, priorities, and trade-offs in a remote-first, European-wide team.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong data engineering background: built or evolved production data pipelines/platforms, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment
• Pragmatic platform mindset: ability to improve systems incrementally while maintaining uptime, prioritizing delivery over large-scale rewrites
• Ownership & proactivity: self-driven, autonomous execution with minimal oversight, identifying what matters and pushing work forward
• Solid SQL + data modelling skills: experienced in designing accurate, maintainable, and analyst-ready datasets
• Reliability instincts: deep commitment to monitoring, testing, data quality, and operational excellence
• Clear communication: ability to collaborate with engineers, product, and business teams to translate needs into data solutions
