• • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team, playing a pivotal role in the design, development, and scaling of modern, robust data platforms. This is a full-time, 100% remote position, requiring candidates to reside and be authorized to work in Costa Rica.
• • In this critical role, you will be instrumental in architecting and implementing cloud-based data solutions tailored for diverse client engagements. Your responsibilities will span the entire data lifecycle, from initial design and development of data pipelines and data hubs to the modernization and migration of legacy systems to cutting-edge, cloud-native architectures.
• • You will be tasked with building and maintaining high-quality, scalable data pipelines, with a strong emphasis on ensuring exceptional observability and reliability. This involves integrating data from a multitude of sources to construct comprehensive, trusted data assets that form the backbone of our clients' analytical capabilities.
• • A key aspect of this role involves setting up and managing cloud compute and storage resources across major platforms like Azure, AWS, and GCP, utilizing SaaS/PaaS models and Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations as dictated by specific project requirements.
• • You will be responsible for designing and implementing centralized Data Hubs that are foundational for advanced analytics, including AI/ML initiatives, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards, SSO integrations, and seamless interoperability across various platforms such as Marketing Technology (MarTech), eCommerce, Education Technology (EdTech), Digital Experience Platforms (DXP), and learning management systems.
• • Developing reusable components for efficient data ingestion, normalization, transformation, and serving is crucial. These components will support a range of use cases, including Data Warehousing (DWH), reporting, dashboarding, and AI/ML applications, ensuring consistency and accelerating development cycles.
• • We expect a strong focus on implementing lightweight yet effective data modeling strategies that prioritize performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability, ensuring that our data solutions are both powerful and sustainable.
• • Ensuring high availability, impeccable data quality, robust observability, strong data governance, and comprehensive cataloguing are paramount. You will be expected to champion and implement best practices in these areas to guarantee the integrity and usability of the data.
• • This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the modernization of legacy data systems, transitioning them to modern cloud architectures, with a particular preference for Azure. Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our clients' data operations.
• • You will leverage advanced SQL skills for query optimization, performance tuning, and complex data transformations, ensuring that data retrieval and processing are as efficient as possible.
• • Hands-on experience with Azure Fabric is essential, alongside strong proficiency in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
• • Expertise in Power BI, including data modeling, report and dashboard development, and performance optimization, is required to deliver insightful visualizations and analytics.
• • You will be involved in designing and optimizing both Data Lakes and enterprise data warehouses, understanding the nuances of each and how they contribute to a cohesive data strategy.
• • Demonstrated leadership in guiding legacy system modernization efforts to the cloud, with a strong preference for Azure, will be a significant asset.
• • Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills are necessary to quickly identify and resolve issues within complex data systems.
• • Experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure strongly preferred, with AWS/GCP also acceptable) is required, and multi-cloud exposure is a plus.
• • Proficiency with Git for version control and an understanding of CI/CD best practices are essential for collaborative development and efficient deployment.
• • Excellent communication and client-facing skills are vital for effectively collaborating with stakeholders, understanding their needs, and presenting technical solutions.
