Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • As a Senior Data Engineer on the newly formed Datacraft team at Bloomreach, you will play a foundational role in building the next-generation data platform that powers internal data warehouses, analytics dashboards, and the Loomi Analytics Agent — directly enabling hundreds of enterprise customers to access, understand, and activate their Bloomreach data across Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, and beyond.
- • Your work will be central to Bloomreach’s mission of revolutionizing customer engagement through its agentic AI platform, Loomi AI, by ensuring data is reliable, accessible, and actionable — turning raw data into strategic insights that drive growth and loyalty for global brands like American Eagle, Sonepar, and Pandora.
- • Day to day, you will design and implement scalable data pipelines using Kafka → GCS → Iceberg → DWH following medallion architecture, owning end-to-end data models and ETL processes for critical use cases like ID resolution and consent semantics.
- • You will maintain and optimize orchestration workflows using Airflow / Cloud Composer, ensuring reliable scheduling, monitoring, and alerting for production-grade data jobs across GCP environments.
- • You will shape the data layer of the Loomi Analytics Agent by implementing evaluation harnesses, refining system prompts and traces, and building MCPs and data interfaces that enable the agent to explore data, explain insights, and act autonomously across systems.
- • You will co-build the modern analytics stack by designing canonical metrics and semantic layers on the data warehouse, integrating with BI tools like Cube and Looker Studio, and ensuring tight coupling with Loomi for seamless dashboarding and self-service analytics.
- • You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate ambiguous business requirements into incremental, shippable technical solutions, leveraging AI coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, Gemini CLI) as a core part of your daily workflow to accelerate development and problem-solving.
- • You will participate in on-call rotations, contribute to architectural discussions, and progressively take ownership of components — from initial pipeline delivery to end-to-end component ownership by 180 days, making independent trade-off decisions that impact team goals.
- • The Datacraft team is an AI-first, high-trust, remote-friendly unit within Bloomreach’s Engagement pillar, operating with significant autonomy and a bias for reliability, continuous improvement, and product thinking — where freedom is balanced with accountability and results-driven impact.
- • You will join a culture that values flexibility, virtual-first collaboration across global hubs, and employee empowerment — including 5 paid volunteer days annually, a $1,500 yearly professional development budget, access to coaching and leadership programs, and strong emphasis on well-being through DisConnect days, Calm subscriptions, and extended parental leave.
- • Over time, you will grow into a senior technical leader capable of leading small projects end-to-end, mentoring peers, and influencing the strategic direction of Bloomreach’s data and AI infrastructure — all while working from Bratislava, Brno, Prague, or remotely across Central Europe.
🎯 Requirements
- • Solid data engineering background with strong SQL and data modeling expertise (star/snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, partitioning/clustering).
- • Hands-on experience building production-grade data pipelines on GCP using BigQuery, Apache Iceberg, Apache Spark on DataProc, and Airflow/Cloud Composer.
- • Strong programming skills in Python (preferred), with familiarity in Scala/Java/Go.
- • Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow/Cloud Composer) and comfort managing DAG-based workflows for scheduled and event-driven jobs.
- • Familiarity with open table formats (Iceberg preferred; Delta Lake/Hudi acceptable) and their interaction with query engines and data warehouses.
- • Understanding of data quality, lineage, and observability practices (SLAs/SLOs, monitoring, backfilling strategies).
- • Ability to work across product and engineering teams to turn fuzzy problems into incremental, shippable solutions.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Restricted Stock Units or Stock Options based on role, seniority, and location.
- • Company performance bonus participation for all employees.
- • Employee referral bonus of up to $3,000 paid immediately after new hire starts.
- • $1,500 annual professional education budget for books, courses, and certifications.
- • 5 paid volunteer days per year to support community engagement.
- • Extended parental leave up to 26 calendar weeks for primary caregivers.
- • Access to Calm (sleep and meditation app) and Employee Assistance Program for counseling.
- • Quarterly ‘DisConnect’ days — additional day off each quarter to unwind and focus on non-screen activities.
- • Flexible working hours and virtual-first work model with access to Bloomreach Hubs across three continents.
- • Participation in People Development and Leader Development Programs with coaching and feedback.
- • Celebration of work anniversaries (‘Bloomversaries’) and company events fostering global connection.
