- • As a Senior Data Engineer at First American Financial Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s data engineering capabilities to support strategic product development and data-driven decision-making across the organization. Your work will directly impact how FA Trust leverages data to innovate, optimize operations, and uncover new growth opportunities in a secure, scalable, and governed manner.
- • You will design, build, and maintain high-performing cloud data solutions that power analytics, business intelligence, and data products, ensuring data is accessible, accurate, and actionable for stakeholders across the enterprise.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include building and operating secure, scalable cloud data pipelines; integrating new data sources into the central data warehouse and data lake; implementing data governance best practices such as data quality checks, metadata management, lineage, and access controls; and mentoring junior engineers through hands-on coaching, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- • You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts, analysts, and cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver end-to-end data solutions, including leading presentations for stakeholders and participating in rotational production support to ensure business continuity.
- • You will drive internal process improvements by automating manual workflows, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, while building tools and processes that ensure the right data reaches the right people at the right time.
- • You will work with modern data architectures including data warehouses, data lakes, event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Airflow), and cloud-native tools (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Spark) to model, visualize, and operationalize data for analytics and AI/ML use cases, including hands-on experience with LLMs and generative AI workflows.

🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of development experience with Python and SQL, with preferred cloud experience in Azure or AWS.
- • Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating data-intensive distributed solutions in cloud environments, including data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics platforms using tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Spark, Hadoop, or RedShift.
- • Proven expertise with event streaming platforms and orchestration tools like Apache Kafka, Fivetran, or Apache Airflow, along with experience in containerized environments using Docker, Rancher, or Kubernetes.
- • Demonstrated experience applying data governance best practices, including data quality validation, metadata cataloging, lineage tracking, and role-based access controls.
- • Familiarity with LLMs and generative AI workflows, including AI governance and privacy-preserving techniques.
- • Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, Azure Cosmos DB, MongoDB), including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and operational management in cloud environments.
