- • Design and build an integrated data platform to unify existing tools and pipelines into a scalable, cohesive architecture that serves the entire organization.
- • Own end-to-end data pipelines and SLAs, ensuring reliable movement of data between systems with clearly defined metrics and performance expectations.
- • Define and enforce data contracts to prevent upstream changes from breaking downstream analytics, establishing standardized interfaces for the team.
- • Shape the data platform roadmap by researching emerging technologies, evaluating architectural trade-offs, and introducing new tools and frameworks as needed.
- • Implement robust observability across the platform through monitoring, telemetry, and alerting systems to enable rapid troubleshooting and system health assessment.
- • Partner with Product Engineering, Analytics, Compliance, and Security teams to align data platform design with business goals, regulatory requirements, and security standards.
- • Stand up and maintain infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools on AWS or other major cloud platforms.
- • Build and maintain data pipelines and transformations using tools such as Dagster, Airbyte, Airflow, and dbt, with a focus on scalability and reliability.
- • Utilize Python as the primary programming language for scripting, automation, and pipeline development, with proficiency in at least one of Java or Scala.
- • Maintain deep expertise in relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, for schema design, query optimization, and data modeling.
- • Participate in an on-call rotation to support production data systems and respond to incidents in a timely manner.
- • Embrace AI coding assistants like Claude Code as essential tools to streamline repetitive tasks, orchestrate multi-stage workflows, and connect services.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with analytics, product, compliance, and security teams to ensure architecture meets both technical and business needs.
- • Balance immediate operational demands with long-term architectural vision, prioritizing sustainable solutions over quick fixes in a fast-growing environment.
- • Apply a self-directed, solution-oriented approach to ambiguity, proposing clear trade-offs and driving execution with minimal oversight.
- • Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders to align platform capabilities with organizational priorities.
- • Maintain a focus on data governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while enabling user access and analytical productivity.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data quality, integrity, and accessibility across the organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • Track record of building and operating data platforms in fast-growing or early-stage environments
- • Strong coding fluency in Python and at least one of Java or Scala, with deep knowledge of PostgreSQL
- • Hands-on experience with Dagster, Airbyte, Airflow, and dbt for data pipeline development
- • Infrastructure automation expertise with Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools on AWS or other major cloud platforms
- • Ability to design scalable data models and system architectures that balance performance, cost, and governance
- • Experience collaborating with Product Engineering, Analytics, Compliance, and Security teams
