📋 Description

• As a Senior Data Platform Engineer specializing in Python and AWS, you will play a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making for a leading U.S. financial services company operating in the mortgage market. Your work will directly impact core business functions such as pricing analytics, trading systems, hedging models, and loan pooling operations by ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of enterprise data infrastructure.
• You will architect, develop, and maintain robust Python-based applications using object-oriented programming and enterprise design patterns, while building RESTful APIs and microservices with FastAPI or Flask to support seamless data flow across systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing and managing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Airflow, Prefect, or AWS Step Functions, and implementing real-time and batch processing solutions through serverless and event-driven architectures on AWS.
• You will leverage advanced data processing frameworks including Pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy, and PySpark to transform and analyze large datasets, and utilize AWS-native services such as Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, S3, EventBridge, and Kinesis to build resilient, cloud-optimized data platforms. Infrastructure as Code practices using CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform will ensure reproducible and version-controlled deployments, while containerization and orchestration via Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes will support scalable service delivery.
• You will establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated testing using pytest, implement rigorous data validation protocols, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate complex technical capabilities into actionable insights. Your ability to communicate intricate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences will be essential in driving alignment and adoption across the organization.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience with at least 4 years of dedicated production Python programming, including proficiency in asynchronous programming concepts.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS data-centric services such as Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, S3, EventBridge, Kinesis, and related analytics or storage tools.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT methodologies, modern data architecture principles, and experience designing scalable data pipelines using Airflow, Prefect, or AWS Step Functions.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical ideas effectively to business stakeholders, project managers, and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (ECS or Kubernetes) in production environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks (e.g., pytest), and data validation techniques to ensure reliability and quality.
