- • As a Senior Data Scientist at Nelnet Business Services, you will lead the development and implementation of machine learning models to solve complex business problems, directly contributing to data-driven decision-making that supports education and faith-based organizations globally.
- • Day to day, you will conduct advanced statistical analyses, clean and process large datasets from diverse sources (SQL, AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Salesforce), build and deploy predictive models, create interactive PowerBI dashboards, mentor junior data scientists, and present findings to senior leadership.
- • You will join a mission-driven team at Nelnet, Inc., a company committed to creating opportunities for people where they live, learn, and work, serving over 1,300 higher education institutions and millions of students through innovative payment and learning management solutions.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in machine learning, cloud platforms, and data engineering while mentoring others, staying current with emerging technologies like LLMs, and driving automation and model performance improvements across the organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • PhD degree in a Quantitative discipline (Applied Mathematics, Optimization, Psychology, Economics) or Programming field
- • 2+ years of experience in data analysis
- • 1+ years of programming experience
- • Significant experience working with large, complex datasets and common data science tools
- • Experience designing, building, deploying, and validating machine-learning predictive models in a business context
- • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python
