- • As a Senior Data Scientist on the AI Core Team at Back Market, you will design, develop, and implement AI-driven solutions that directly improve the marketplace’s functionality, sustainability, and user experience—turning innovative AI concepts into production-ready features that reduce environmental impact and enhance seller and buyer trust.
- • You will own end-to-end AI initiatives from problem identification and data exploration to model development, deployment, and monitoring, collaborating cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams to ship impactful solutions in areas like Agentic Shopping and Fraud Detection.
- • Your day-to-day will involve hands-on development and productionization of machine learning models and GenAI applications at scale, including integrating and optimizing large language models (LLMs) using tools like Dust and Claude Code, ensuring robustness, scalability, and alignment with existing data platforms.
- • You will act as an internal AI enablement expert by running workshops, sharing best practices, and coaching teams across Back Market on how to effectively adopt AI tools, fostering a culture of innovation and technical fluency in AI-assisted workflows.
- • Regularly presenting your work at internal demos, tech talks, and conferences, you will help acculturate the organization to AI, translating complex technical concepts into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of industry experience in data science or a related quantitative field, with a Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Sciences, or Engineering
- • Proven track record of leading end-to-end data science initiatives that solve real business problems, including experience mentoring and developing junior scientists and engineers
- • Deep expertise in the full ML lifecycle, including algorithms, best practices, and hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, Generative AI APIs, time series, NLP, and recommendation systems
- • Strong Python proficiency and software engineering fundamentals (testing, code review, CI/CD, deployment) with ability to design end-to-end AI/data architectures that integrate with existing product and data platforms
- • Proficiency in AI-assisted and agentic coding workflows (e.g., Claude Code) and exceptional communication skills to convey complex technical ideas to diverse audiences
