- • Lead end-to-end machine learning projects from problem formulation to production deployment, focusing on credit risk assessment, fraud detection, and underwriting capabilities across Mudflap’s payment platform.
- • Develop predictive models that reduce fraud losses and improve portfolio performance by analyzing transactional, behavioral, and contextual data from truckers and fuel stop partners.
- • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Risk, and Finance teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable data science solutions that drive growth while protecting the business.
- • Design and own end-to-end A/B testing frameworks to evaluate product changes, measure impact on key metrics, and translate test results into actionable product improvements.
- • Drive strategic data science initiatives in partnership with executive leadership to identify high-value opportunities in risk management and customer segmentation.
- • Establish and mentor teams on best practices in data science methodology, including model validation, performance monitoring, and code review standards.
- • Build and maintain production-ready data pipelines and models using SQL and Python for automation, data manipulation, and statistical analysis.
- • Apply statistical knowledge in experimental design, cohort analysis, and causal inference to evaluate the impact of risk interventions and business decisions.
- • Communicate complex technical insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executives and cross-functional teams.
- • Work in a hybrid environment based in Palo Alto, CA, balancing in-office collaboration with remote work to support team alignment and innovation.

🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or related fields
- • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, modeling, and automation
- • Experience building production-ready models and pipelines
- • Strong statistical knowledge and experience designing experiments (A/B testing, cohort analysis, causal inference)
- • Experience in at least one of the domains: risk, growth/marketing, or product analytics
- • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment where collaboration and flexibility are essential
