- • As a Senior Database Engineer at Humana Inc., you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and managing scalable, secure, and high-performance database systems that directly support the company’s mission to put health first for millions of members nationwide. Your expertise will ensure reliable data infrastructure that powers healthcare insights, operational efficiency, and improved patient outcomes.
- • Day to day, you will lead the design and implementation of database architectures aligned with business requirements, focusing on ETL processes, data partitioning, and system integration; develop and optimize database applications using SSIS, SSMS, SQL, Python/PySpark, and Databricks to enable efficient data access and transformation; create and maintain data transfer mechanisms and interfaces that integrate new systems with existing data warehouses to enhance functionality and performance.
- • You will independently analyze complex technical challenges, make informed decisions on architecture updates and system integrations, and anticipate future trends to proactively refine database performance and reliability without requiring direct supervision.
- • Collaborating closely with business partners, you will translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders, build strong cross-functional relationships, and consult on data-driven solutions that support strategic initiatives.
- • You will design, develop, test, and deploy software applications and infrastructure components, ensuring adherence to security, scalability, and reliability standards while mentoring peers and influencing team best practices through your technical leadership.
- • By staying current with emerging technologies such as Azure cloud services and Power BI, you will contribute to modernizing Humana’s data ecosystem, enabling faster reporting, deeper analytics, and more agile responses to evolving healthcare demands.

🎯 Requirements
- • 3 years of technical experience with a primary focus on ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
- • Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and/or SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio)
- • Advanced proficiency in SQL and/or Python/PySpark for data manipulation, querying, and pipeline development
- • Technical expertise with Databricks, including experience in developing and managing data workflows or holding a Databricks Certification
- • Proven ability to design, develop, and test software applications and/or infrastructure components in a professional setting
- • Demonstrated skill in communicating complex technical information clearly to non-technical audiences, including business partners and cross-functional teams
- • Self-directed work ethic with the ability to operate independently, take ownership of outcomes, and anticipate future needs and trends with minimal supervision
