• • As a Senior Database Engineer, you will be instrumental in managing, optimizing, and scaling our PostgreSQL database infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on AWS RDS and Aurora. This role requires a proactive individual who can not only administer and maintain our databases but also collaborate effectively with development teams to ensure optimal data performance and design.
• • Your core responsibilities will include the comprehensive administration of PostgreSQL databases hosted on Amazon RDS and Aurora. This involves ensuring high availability, implementing robust monitoring strategies, and performing essential maintenance tasks such as validating backups, checking replication status, applying patches, and executing upgrades to keep our systems secure and up-to-date.
• • A significant aspect of your role will be dedicated to performance optimization. You will work closely with development teams to fine-tune SQL queries, optimize database objects, maintain and develop PL/pgSQL routines, and contribute to data modeling initiatives. This collaborative effort aims to enhance overall application performance and database efficiency.
• • You will be responsible for setting up and fine-tuning critical database performance metrics, logs, and alerts. Leveraging tools like AWS CloudWatch, pg_stat_statements, and other relevant utilities, you will proactively identify bottlenecks, diagnose slow-running queries, and implement solutions to ensure our databases operate at peak efficiency.
• • Security is paramount. You will implement and manage access control mechanisms, audit trails, and security policies in strict accordance with organizational standards, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of our data.
• • Documentation and process improvement are key. You will create and maintain comprehensive database documentation, develop deployment scripts, and contribute to the evolution of our database best practices. This includes managing schema changes, migrations, and ensuring version control of database objects, with GitHub experience being a valuable asset.
• • Embracing a DevOps culture, you will contribute to our CI/CD pipelines for database development, automating schema deployments and enhancing the efficiency of our release processes.
