📋 Description

• Lead the design strategy for Back Market's purchase experience, including search, product discovery, comparison, checkout, and related services, to make circular commerce the obvious choice for users.
• Manage and develop a team of 4 designers (3 product designers, 1 content designer) through coaching, feedback, career development, and fostering high-quality, impactful work.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to align vision, execute data-informed design decisions, and drive conversion metrics while centering user needs.
• Contribute to Design leadership by collaborating with peers to elevate design standards, rituals, and operational excellence across the organization.
• Drive hands-on execution on strategic projects, champion design quality, and model empathetic, proactive leadership that challenges the status quo.
• Foster team growth through 1:1s, feedback, and enabling designers to take pride in their work while navigating ambiguity and prioritizing impact.
• Leverage experience in e-commerce or marketplace design, experimentation, A/B testing, and AI integration to improve user satisfaction and business outcomes.
• Communicate effectively in English to influence stakeholders and inspire teams in a global, distributed environment spanning Europe, New York, and Tokyo.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience in design leadership managing distributed teams with 3+ direct reports, or equivalent people leadership experience
• Expertise in e-commerce or marketplace purchase experiences with a proven track record of improving conversion rates and user satisfaction through design
• Strategic thinking balanced with tactical execution: ability to define long-term vision while attending to detailed design execution (e.g., button hierarchy)
• Hands-on experience with experimentation, A/B testing, and using data to inform design decisions
• Strong organizational skills to bring clarity in complex situations and help teams prioritize effectively
• Emotional intelligence: humble, caring, and supportive approach to leadership and collaboration
• Excellent English communication skills to influence stakeholders and inspire teams in an international setting
