- • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver financial consulting solutions for private equity-backed portfolio companies, focusing on enhancing CFO office capabilities through data-driven value creation.
- • Design and implement structured financial reporting processes that aggregate unreliable or fragmented data into reliable, single-source reporting systems for executive and board-level stakeholders.
- • Collaborate directly with CFOs, private equity sponsors, and operating teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs), validate business drivers, and establish monthly reporting cadences that align with investment thesis goals.
- • Develop automated financial reporting packages using Excel, PowerQuery, PowerPivot, and PowerBI to transform complex datasets into user-friendly, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- • Diagnose root causes of inefficiencies in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes within acquired or post-bankruptcy organizations and design scalable corrective frameworks.
- • Quarterback comprehensive budget planning initiatives by coordinating across finance, sales, operations, and senior leadership teams to align financial plans with operational realities.
- • Build and maintain 13-week cash flow forecasts by integrating inputs from multiple departments and ensuring accuracy under tight deadlines.
- • Design and implement a unified finance function following corporate acquisitions, including defining organizational structure, roles, responsibilities, headcount plans, and training curricula for integrated teams.
- • Select, configure, and deploy ERP systems tailored to the needs of newly consolidated businesses to standardize financial operations across previously independent entities.
- • Create templated analytical tools and reporting dashboards that enable client FP&A teams to independently run forecasts, analyses, and reporting workflows post-engagement.
- • Train and mentor client FP&A teams to own and sustain newly implemented financial processes, ensuring long-term operational independence and capability building.
- • Manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously, balancing hands-on execution with leadership responsibilities across client engagements.
- • Deliver clear, succinct, and compelling presentations and memos that translate complex financial data into strategic recommendations for C-suite and board audiences.
- • Operate in a hybrid model with flexibility to work remotely two days per week, based in one of Accordion’s offices in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, or New York City.
- • Lead by example in a flat, entrepreneurial organization, embodying a strong work ethic, self-starter mentality, and commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
- • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of Accordion’s Strategic Finance Practice through knowledge sharing and process innovation.
- • Maintain the highest professional standards in client interactions, data integrity, and project execution while navigating fast-paced, high-stakes private equity environments.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA is a plus
- • Minimum 15 years of experience at a top-tier private equity firm, investment bank, and/or consulting firm
- • Proven experience in FP&A within an operating company or direct engagement with private equity funds and portfolio companies
- • Advanced quantitative skills and expertise in financial modeling and corporate valuation
- • Demonstrated ability to leverage Excel, PowerQuery, PowerPivot, and PowerBI to manage, analyze, and present complex financial data
- • Transactional finance experience combined with operational finance understanding
