- • Provide step-by-step instruction on pre-trip and post-trip inspections in full compliance with DOT regulations and company policy.
- • Facilitate training sessions on DOT and FMCSA regulations, as well as company safety policies, adapting delivery methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- • Mentor and coach professional drivers to enhance safe and compliant performance across field operations.
- • Demonstrate professional leadership during training to reinforce safety standards and ensure consistent application of compliance expectations.
- • Ensure West and Central region field operations adhere to all federal DOT and FMCSA regulatory requirements.
- • Maintain and manage Driver Qualification Files, including conducting or coordinating required road tests for new hires.
- • Conduct internal compliance audits to identify gaps and support the development of corrective action plans.
- • Assist DOT Manager during federal DOT audits by preparing documentation and providing operational support.
- • Utilize ELD platforms and safety management systems to analyze data, identify compliance trends, and recommend operational improvements.
- • Travel 70–80% of the time to job sites, yards, and field locations across the West and Central regions.
- • Collaborate with the DOT compliance team to implement effective training and compliance initiatives.
- • Investigate safety incidents, analyze root causes and trends, and advise on corrective actions in coordination with the DOT Manager.
- • Serve as a primary safety resource for drivers, answering operational questions and providing real-time guidance.
- • Promote defensive driving techniques and safe vehicle operation across all field teams.
- • Reinforce safety culture by consistently communicating expectations and modeling professional behavior.
- • Build and maintain positive working relationships with field teams to foster accountability, professionalism, and a shared commitment to safety.
- • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of progressive experience in field training, commercial transportation, fleet safety compliance, or a related field
- • 2+ years of experience in DOT training, safety instruction, or compliance oversight
- • CVSA North American Standard Level 1 Certification (Part A and B) required or ability to obtain
- • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Public Safety, Logistics preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
- • Experience as a State Trooper, Highway Patrol Officer, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer, or DOT Inspector highly desirable
- • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite of applications
