📋 Description

  • • As a Senior Employment Counsel at Airwallex, you will play a critical role in shaping and safeguarding the company’s people strategy across APAC and beyond, ensuring compliance, fairness, and scalability in one of the world’s fastest-growing fintechs.
  • • You will provide strategic, pragmatic legal guidance on employment matters that directly impact Airwallex’s ability to attract, retain, and manage talent globally, supporting high-impact business decisions with sound judgment and discretion.
  • • Day to day, you will advise on hiring, performance management, compensation, terminations, and employee relations, ensuring all actions align with local laws and company values.
  • • You will partner closely with the People team and business leaders to design and implement scalable, compliant employee lifecycle practices, from onboarding to offboarding.
  • • You will lead and oversee internal workplace investigations, applying rigorous, fair, and confidential processes to sensitive matters.
  • • You will collaborate on and manage employment-related litigation and pre-litigation risks, working with external counsel when necessary to protect the company’s interests.
  • • You will develop and scale employment infrastructure by creating policies, training programs, templates, and tooling that enable consistent, efficient HR operations across jurisdictions.
  • • You will monitor evolving employment laws and regulatory trends across APAC, EMEA, and other regions, assessing their impact and advising on proactive compliance strategies.
  • • You will support cross-border employment challenges, including remote work arrangements, international mobility, and entity expansion, ensuring legal alignment as Airwallex scales globally.
  • • You will join a high-performing, globally distributed legal team that values founder-like energy, intellectual curiosity, and collaborative problem-solving in a mission-driven environment.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 10-12 years of employment law experience, with a combination of in-house counsel and law firm background strongly preferred.
  • • Qualified and licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction, with demonstrated experience in APAC and/or EMEA employment law.
  • • Proven track record in managing sensitive employee relations matters, conducting workplace investigations, and advising on terminations, performance management, and compliance.
  • • Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and provide pragmatic legal advice in a fast-paced, high-growth global environment.
  • • Excellent communication, judgment, and collaboration skills, with fluency in English; additional languages such as Chinese are advantageous.
