- • Lead a fully remote, multi-disciplinary team of renewable energy development engineers responsible for the technical design and execution of solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), microgrid, and EV charging projects across commercial, industrial, governmental, municipal, and institutional clients nationwide.
- • Serve as the technical anchor and strategic owner for a portfolio of multi-million-dollar energy savings performance contracts (ESPCs), guiding projects from early feasibility through construction handoff and operations.
- • Partner directly with Sales Executives to align engineering solutions with business development goals, participating in high-stakes client meetings and presenting technical strategies to C-suite stakeholders.
- • Oversee and approve the preparation of technical proposals, including system layouts, energy production estimates, equipment specifications, risk assessments, and project schedules.
- • Direct utility interconnection strategies for programs such as NEM, SGIP, Rule 21, and others, serving as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues with utilities, AHJs, vendors, and outside engineers.
- • Champion advanced energy modeling and system optimization techniques, including battery dispatch modeling, utility rate analysis, and microgrid resiliency design to maximize project economics and performance.
- • Guide the team in leveraging federal and state incentive programs (ITC, IRA adders, SGIP, USDA REAP, net metering) to enhance project economics and create competitive advantages in proposals.
- • Manage resource allocation and workload balancing across a diverse national project pipeline with high autonomy, ensuring optimal team utilization and project timelines.
- • Foster a culture of trust, psychological safety, and emotional intelligence within the remote engineering team, mentoring engineers and supporting their career development.
- • Ensure seamless technical handoff to Project Management teams during construction, providing ongoing guidance during material procurement and installation phases.
- • Oversee technical components of commissioning, project closeout, and post-construction savings evaluations to validate performance against projections.
- • Continuously evaluate and improve internal engineering processes, design tools, and best practices to scale the remote engineering department and enhance operational efficiency.
- • Review and approve financial models, project pricing, construction budgets, and schedules in coordination with Pre-Construction teams to ensure alignment with project economics.
- • Maintain strict compliance with U.S. security protocols for handling confidential project information.
- • Travel up to 25% of the time for site visits, team alignment meetings, and critical customer presentations.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline
- • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in renewable energy project development or engineering design
- • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading the development of utility-scale or complex commercial/industrial solar PV and/or battery energy storage (BESS) projects
- • Ability to review confidential U.S. security information
