- • Develop strategic pricing objectives and imperatives by analyzing market trends, competitor pricing, and internal data to enhance profitability.
- • Review requests for quotations and provide analytical support to the proposal team in creating accurate estimates and pricing strategies.
- • Determine accurate material quantities by interpreting and measuring from provided plan sets for water, wastewater, storm drainage, and fire protection projects.
- • Research project plans and specifications to identify special material requirements, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- • Procure, pick up, and return plan sets as needed to support accurate estimating processes.
- • Identify whether Core & Main-supplied materials meet applicable regulatory and technical specifications for infrastructure projects.
- • Communicate directly with design engineers or project owners to clarify unusual or complex material issues impacting estimates.
- • Track and evaluate the effectiveness and profitability of existing pricing strategies to identify improvement opportunities for current accounts.
- • Utilize estimation software such as Planswift to streamline quantity takeoffs and pricing calculations.
- • Maintain awareness of economic conditions and industry shifts that may influence pricing structures and project costs.
- • Perform other duties as assigned to support the sales and bidding process, ensuring timely and accurate proposal submissions.
- • Work independently on complex estimating tasks, seeking guidance only for unusual or high-risk issues.
- • Provide general direction or training to junior estimators or support personnel when required.
- • Operate in a comfortable indoor environment with infrequent and non-objectionable environmental conditions.
- • Travel less than 10% of the time, primarily for plan retrieval or client meetings.
- • Contribute to the successful execution of critical infrastructure projects by serving as the foundational estimator in the sales pipeline.
- • Adapt to evolving project demands and deadlines while maintaining precision and attention to detail.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, and operations to align estimates with customer needs and company capabilities.
- • Leverage understanding of waterworks products and infrastructure to deliver contextually accurate and competitive bids.
- • Support continuous learning through company-provided training resources and professional development opportunities.
🎯 Requirements
- • BS/BA in a related discipline or MS/MA with 2-4 years of experience in a related field
- • 2-4 years of bid preparation or related estimating experience
- • Certification required in some areas
- • Familiarity with estimation software such as Planswift
- • Understanding of waterworks products and infrastructure
- • Demonstrated skill in resolving incomplete or inconsistent data in complex research scenarios
