- • As a Senior FP&A Manager at Handshake Technologies, Inc., you will step into a pivotal role within our finance organization, reporting directly to the Senior Director, FP&A. This position is designed for a seasoned finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment and possesses a keen ability to translate complex financial data into actionable strategic insights. You will be the primary financial partner for our R&D and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) leadership teams, playing an instrumental role in ensuring our financial planning and analysis infrastructure not only keeps pace with Handshake's exponential growth but actively enables it. Your responsibilities will span across our core business units, including Careers and the cutting-edge Handshake AI division, demanding a comprehensive understanding of diverse revenue streams and cost structures.
- • This is a high-visibility position that offers direct engagement with executive leadership. You will be instrumental in shaping critical investment decisions, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of our financial forecasts, and instilling a culture of financial rigor across the entire organization. The insights and strategies you develop will directly influence how Handshake allocates its capital resources, optimizes its gross margins, and strategically plans for sustained, long-term growth in the rapidly evolving AI economy.
- • A core aspect of your role will be to own the FP&A business partnering responsibilities for R&D and COGS. This entails developing and maintaining accurate financial forecasts, performing variance analysis, and delivering insightful reports that empower executive decision-making. You will be responsible for understanding the drivers of R&D investment and COGS, identifying opportunities for efficiency, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- • You will take the lead in forecasting COGS, meticulously classifying costs to ensure accurate P&L representation. This includes distinguishing between above-the-line and below-the-line expenses, and differentiating between production-related costs and non-production overhead. This detailed approach is crucial for maintaining accurate gross margin reporting and a true reflection of our profitability.
- • A significant challenge and opportunity within this role is to design and implement a robust, traceable cost allocation methodology. This methodology will be essential for accurately attributing costs between the Careers and Handshake AI business segments. The goal is to foster transparent margin reporting, enabling a clear understanding of the financial performance of each unit, and to establish scalable financial controls that can adapt to future growth.
- • You will be tasked with building and enhancing our long-range planning (LRP) models, which encompass the three core financial statements: Profit & Loss (P&L), Balance Sheet (B/S), and Cash Flow. These enhanced models will be critical for improving our capital planning processes, enabling more accurate scenario analysis, and providing a clearer picture of our financial trajectory over the long term.
- • Collaboration with the Accounting team will be paramount. You will work closely with them to refine and improve our forecasting processes for key financial elements, including month-end close activities, roll-forward analyses, cash flow projections, Other Income & Expense (OIE) forecasting, and collections forecasting. The objective is to significantly increase the accuracy and predictability of our financial reporting, providing stakeholders with reliable data for strategic planning.
- • This role demands a proactive approach to identifying financial risks and opportunities, developing mitigation strategies, and proposing initiatives to drive profitable growth. You will be a key player in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring that Handshake's financial operations are optimized for efficiency and scalability.
- • Furthermore, you will contribute to the development of financial dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time visibility into key performance indicators (KPIs), enabling faster and more informed business decisions. Your ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders will be crucial for driving alignment and fostering a data-driven culture throughout the organization.
- • Embracing the fast-paced nature of a rapidly scaling, AI-driven company is essential. You will be expected to adapt quickly to changing business needs, embrace new technologies, and continuously seek ways to improve financial processes and reporting.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), strategic finance, corporate finance, or a closely related field, specifically within a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environment.
- • Demonstrated expertise in building and managing advanced three-statement financial models (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and sophisticated subscription revenue models using Microsoft Excel.
- • A deep and practical understanding of key SaaS metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), the intricacies of gross margin dynamics in a recurring revenue business, and a solid grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- • Proven direct experience in owning or forecasting Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and Research & Development (R&D) expenditures, including understanding their drivers and impact on the business.
- • A verifiable track record of successfully improving forecast accuracy, implementing scalable financial processes, and driving financial discipline within an organization.
- • Significant experience partnering cross-functionally with Accounting departments and presenting financial information and insights to executive-level stakeholders.
- • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the proven ability to translate complex financial models and data into clear, concise, and actionable business insights for diverse audiences.
- • A genuine excitement and proactive attitude towards building and enhancing financial infrastructure within a fast-scaling, AI-driven company.
