Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Mochi Health is revolutionizing the healthcare industry by building an AI-driven marketplace designed to make healthcare more accessible, understandable, and affordable for patients. We are tackling the fundamental challenges in healthcare, such as the difficulty patients face in finding the right care, understanding costs, and accessing necessary medications. Our innovative platform provides transparent pricing before patients pay, personalized medication management that follows them across different providers, and long-term access to their own medical records, proving that healthcare can be more human, intuitive, and cost-effective.
- • As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Mochi Health, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user interfaces that hundreds of thousands of patients and medical providers interact with daily. You will be instrumental in expanding our services into new frontiers of preventative healthcare, including hormone optimization (HRT/TRT), longevity medicine, and advanced peptide therapies. Your work will directly influence how patients discover treatments, engage with their care teams, and monitor their health outcomes.
- • This role offers exceptional leverage within a high-talent-density engineering team that powers a profitable, nine-figure ARR healthcare platform. You will not be confined to isolated technical silos; instead, you will own your applications end-to-end. This includes architecting client-side state management, developing highly responsive and performant UIs, optimizing rendering performance, and establishing comprehensive frontend observability in production environments. If you are motivated by complex product challenges, thrive with absolute autonomy, and are driven by the tangible impact your work has on patient well-being, this position is an ideal fit.
- • You will be responsible for building sophisticated healthcare interfaces, including dynamic, multi-step medical intake engines and high-density provider charting dashboards. These tools are critical for our clinical team to treat patients safely and efficiently. Additionally, you will develop patient-facing applications that must handle sensitive Protected Health Information (PHI) with perfect state synchronization and robust security.
- • Mastering client-side architecture is a key aspect of this role. Given the complex and relational nature of healthcare data, you will design and implement scalable frontend architectures capable of managing intricate state, efficiently handling asynchronous data fetching, and ensuring interfaces remain responsive even when backend APIs are under strain.
- • Collaboration extends across the entire client ecosystem. While your primary focus will be on web applications, Mochi Health also extensively utilizes React Native and Expo for its mobile applications. You will work closely with mobile engineers to define shared state patterns, develop reusable business logic, and establish a unified architectural standard across all client platforms, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
- • Championing the user experience is paramount. You will go beyond simply implementing specifications, demonstrating a deep commitment to how both patients and providers experience the Mochi Health platform. Your keen eye for detail in UI design and strong product sense will enable you to make pragmatic, high-quality design decisions on the fly, leveraging our component systems to measurably improve patient outcomes.
- • Owning frontend reliability is a core responsibility. You will be accountable for the performance and stability of the frontend post-deployment. This includes managing frontend deployment pipelines, defining and enforcing strict performance budgets, and implementing client-side observability and error tracking solutions (such as Sentry or Datadog) to proactively identify and resolve regressions before they impact patients.
- • You will be at the forefront of building agentic workflows, as Mochi Health is an AI-first engineering organization. You will leverage cutting-edge agentic models to enhance your own development speed and efficiency, and crucially, integrate AI capabilities directly into our product interfaces. This integration will automate clinical operations and scale provider workflows, further enhancing the platform's capabilities.
- • The role requires a minimum of 5-7 years of frontend engineering experience, with a proven track record of building and operating production React applications that handle significant complexity. You should be adept at bridging the gap between dense data visualization and polished, accessible user experiences.
- • A deep understanding of React and state architecture fundamentals is essential. You should possess a thorough grasp of the React render cycle, moving beyond basic hook usage to expertly orchestrate complex data flows. Familiarity with the trade-offs between server-side rendering, static generation, and client-side fetching, and the pragmatic use of tools like Next.js without over-complicating architecture, is expected.
- • As an independent product builder, you should be capable of shipping great software without requiring pixel-perfect designs. A strong aesthetic sense and the ability to unblock yourself visually while adhering to the design system and brand language are highly valued.
- • Your workflows should be demonstrably enhanced by AI. You should be actively using frontier agentic tools (e.g., Codex, Claude) to accelerate your coding process and be able to articulate how these models have structurally changed your development approach, while maintaining the critical skepticism needed to audit and verify AI-generated output.
- • Excellent collaboration skills are required. You should possess low ego, high standards, and strong communication abilities, thriving in cross-functional environments where engineering requirements are influenced by healthcare regulations, compliance, and patient safety.
- • A commitment to working in-person, 5 days a week, at our San Francisco office is a requirement for this role.
- • For candidates targeting Staff-level positions, a demonstrated history of setting technical direction across multiple teams, navigating significant ambiguity, and measurably elevating the skills of surrounding engineers is expected.
- • Familiarity with our frontend stack—TypeScript, React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and modern state management/data fetching tools like React Query and Zustand—is a strong plus, though we prioritize fundamental engineering principles, web performance, and product sense over strict adherence to specific frameworks.
