📋 Description
- • As the first senior frontend hire for Handshake AI Enterprise, you will architect the frontend foundation for a new business unit building AI-powered applications for the world's largest companies, establishing the component system, design language, and engineering patterns that the entire team will rely on.
- • Day to day, you will make foundational technology decisions around framework choices, state management, and performance budgets; build shared libraries and abstractions; establish code standards and review practices; collaborate with Applied AI and Platform engineers on API contracts; and ship production-grade UI for enterprise deployments while evolving the architecture as the team and product scale.
- • Handshake Technologies, Inc. powers 25 million job seekers, 1 million+ employers, and 1,600 educational institutions, and in 2025 launched Handshake AI — a fast-growing AI data business working with frontier AI labs to create evaluations and benchmarks, now operating at ~$1B run rate and paying ~$60M monthly to over 30K individuals.
- • You will have the rare opportunity to own the frontend architecture of a new product from zero, set the technical bar for frontend engineering at Handshake, and directly influence how AI transforms enterprise workflows at global scale, with visibility and impact across customers, partners, and the broader tech community.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5–6+ years of frontend engineering experience with a strong architectural track record
- • Deep expertise in ReactJS and TypeScript — understanding tradeoffs, not just syntax
- • Proven experience building and maintaining shared component libraries or design systems used by other engineers
- • Strong opinions on frontend architecture — state management, rendering patterns, performance, accessibility — and ability to defend and evolve them
- • Experience making technology decisions that others depend on, with an eye toward long-term maintainability
- • Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where the right answer isn't always obvious
- • Strong communication skills to align engineers, product, and design on how things get built
