• *What You'll Be Doing:**
• As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Canva, your responsibilities will be broad and impactful, reflecting the diverse needs of our product development. You will be instrumental in:
• **Leading the Design and Development of High-Impact Features:** Take ownership of the end-to-end development lifecycle for new product features. This includes translating complex product requirements and user needs into elegant, performant, and delightful user interfaces using modern frontend technologies, primarily React and TypeScript.
• **Driving Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Work closely with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and fellow engineers to meticulously scope, define, and deliver features that align with our product vision and user expectations. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively will be crucial.
• **Architecting and Scaling Frontend Systems:** Contribute to the evolution and scalability of Canva's frontend architecture. This involves developing and maintaining reusable component libraries, championing our design system, and ensuring consistency and efficiency across various product surfaces.
• **Championing Engineering Excellence:** Actively promote and implement best practices in accessibility, performance optimization, and overall code quality. You will be a key advocate for maintaining a high technical bar across the engineering team.
• **Writing Robust and Well-Tested Code:** Develop clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code. Proactively identify opportunities for technical improvements, refactoring, and performance enhancements to ensure the long-term health and efficiency of our codebase.
• **Mentoring and Technical Leadership:** Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. Lead design and code reviews, share your expertise, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team.
• **Contributing to Product Innovation:** Engage in the ideation and experimentation process, bringing your technical insights to help shape new product directions and explore innovative solutions.

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive experience building complex, user-facing applications using modern frontend technologies, with a strong preference for React and TypeScript.
• Deep understanding of JavaScript fundamentals, the web platform, and associated performance and accessibility best practices.
• Proven ability to take ownership of features end-to-end, from architectural design through to successful delivery, and a proactive approach to driving technical solutions.
• A balanced approach to attention to detail and pragmatism, with a consistent track record of shipping high-quality code efficiently.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across different disciplines and proactively involve stakeholders.
• A clear understanding of how individual contributions connect to broader product goals, user experience, and long-term system scalability.
• Experience mentoring peers, conducting constructive code reviews, and actively contributing to raising the technical standard of a team.
