Senior Frontend Mobile Engineer

📋 Description

• • Own and evolve Snowplow’s flagship single-page application, written in TypeScript and React, that lets data teams design, govern, and deploy behavioral data products in minutes instead of weeks. You will shape every pixel and every interaction, from drag-and-drop schema builders to real-time validation dashboards, ensuring the experience feels effortless even when the underlying domain is deeply technical.
• • Extend and harden our open-source mobile tracking SDKs for iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin). These SDKs run in millions of end-user devices for customers like Strava and HelloFresh, so every line you ship must be memory-efficient, battery-friendly, and resilient across OS versions and network conditions.
• • Leverage AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.) to automate boilerplate, generate tests, and prototype faster—then step back to apply human judgment on architecture, security, and edge cases. You will help define internal best practices for when and how to use AI so the team stays fast without sacrificing quality.
• • Build a bullet-proof test pyramid: unit tests that run in seconds, integration tests that spin up ephemeral warehouses, and end-to-end tests that simulate flaky 3G networks. You will also set up automated accessibility checks so every new feature meets WCAG 2.2 standards out of the gate.
• • Be the voice of the customer inside engineering. Every sprint you will pair with Solutions Architects to reproduce escalated tickets, trace them through distributed logs, and ship fixes or work-arounds within SLA. Your RCA write-ups will directly influence the next quarter’s roadmap.
• • Collaborate daily with Product, Design, and Data Science in dual-track Scrum: discovery workshops on Monday, story refinement on Wednesday, demos on Friday. You will translate Figma mocks into technical tasks, flag feasibility risks early, and negotiate scope so we ship value continuously.
• • Champion security and privacy by design. You will threat-model new features, implement certificate pinning in the mobile SDKs, and ensure all client-side data is encrypted at rest and in transit. You’ll also run internal lunch-and-learns on OWASP Mobile Top 10.
• • Research and prototype next-gen tech—think React Server Components, Swift Concurrency, or Kotlin Multiplatform—to keep Snowplow two steps ahead of the market. When an experiment proves valuable, you will write an RFC, shepherd it through review, and lead the incremental rollout.
• • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through pair programming, design reviews, and career road-mapping. You will foster an inclusive culture where every question is welcomed and every mistake is treated as a learning opportunity.
• • Contribute to Snowplow’s open-source community by writing blog posts, speaking at meetups, and responding to GitHub issues. Your public work will help thousands of developers around the world build better data pipelines.
