📋 Description

• Senior Full-Stack Engineer at NextLink Labs LLC, a fast-growing remote-first technology consulting firm based in Canada, responsible for building and maintaining secure, scalable web applications for clients while contributing to internal best practices and thought leadership.
• This role is critical to delivering high-quality custom software solutions that help clients succeed in their industries, combining technical excellence with client-facing collaboration to drive outcomes in a values-driven, inclusive environment.
• Architect and implement end-to-end features for client applications using Ruby on Rails and React, ensuring clean, maintainable code that aligns with business goals and technical standards.
• Communicate directly with clients to demonstrate progress, gather feedback, and translate technical concepts into actionable insights during scoping calls and reviews.
• Review legacy applications to identify technical debt, refactor code, and implement improvements that enhance performance, security, and scalability.
• Participate in agile workflows including weekly stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, contributing to team velocity and continuous improvement.
• Conduct thorough code reviews of peers’ work, providing constructive feedback to uphold quality standards and foster knowledge sharing across the team.
• Contribute to internal documentation, code templates, and engineering best practices to elevate the consistency and reliability of NextLink Labs’ consulting delivery.
• Engage in thought leadership activities such as writing blog posts, hosting webinars, and creating marketing materials that showcase technical expertise and company innovation.
• Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams by providing technical input during client scoping sessions to ensure feasible, well-scoped proposals.
• Mentor junior engineers through pair programming, guidance on best practices, and support in professional development, helping to strengthen team capability.
• Apply strong unit-testing and debugging practices using RSpec/Minitest for Rails and Jest/RTL for React to ensure robust, reliable software.
• Leverage proficiency in Git for version control, branching strategies, and collaborative workflows in a distributed team environment.
• Ensure applications meet accessibility and security compliance standards, integrating best practices from design through deployment.
• Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), design and consume APIs (REST/GraphQL), and manage background jobs using Sidekiq or Active Job.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building web applications with strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and React or equivalent frameworks
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of software engagements, and scope features and full projects based on client requests
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build buy-in, facilitate compromise, and guide client expectations
• Strong unit-testing and debugging abilities (RSpec/Minitest, Jest/RTL) and proficient understanding of version control systems (Git)
• Understanding of accessibility and security compliance, fundamental design principles for scalable applications, and experience with APIs (REST/GraphQL), relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), and background jobs (Sidekiq/Active Job)
