📋 Description

• • Lead the architecture and delivery of the client-facing web and mobile applications that connect 4+ million members with 30,000+ licensed therapists every month. You will own the full development lifecycle—from ideation and technical design through deployment and post-launch optimization—ensuring that every line of code directly improves the experience of people seeking mental-health support.
• • Design and evolve a modern React / React-Native frontend that feels fast, intuitive, and trustworthy on devices ranging from low-end Android phones to the latest iPad Pros. You will obsess over accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), performance budgets, and pixel-perfect UI, because for many users this is the first time they have ever reached out for help.
• • Build and scale a Node.js / TypeScript backend running on AWS (EKS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS) that handles 15,000+ concurrent sessions, 50 TB of messaging data, and real-time video calls with sub-second latency. You will write clean, test-driven code that gracefully handles spikes during Mental Health Awareness Month and remains HIPAA-compliant 24/7/365.
• • Collaborate daily with product managers, UX researchers, data scientists, and clinical staff in cross-functional squads. You will translate complex clinical workflows—such as therapist matching algorithms, asynchronous journaling, and outcome measurement—into elegant technical solutions that respect user privacy and therapeutic best practices.
• • Champion a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement. You will instrument every feature with analytics, run A/B tests that reach statistical significance in days, and use the results to iterate rapidly. Your dashboards will tell the story of how a 200 ms reduction in page-load time increased session bookings by 3.4 %.
• • Mentor and level-up a distributed team of 6–8 engineers across time zones. You will conduct architecture reviews, pair-program on gnarly bugs, and create reusable libraries that cut future development time in half. Your code reviews are legendary for being both kind and uncompromising on quality.
• • Own reliability and security as first-class features. You will define SLIs/SLOs, automate blue-green deployments with Terraform and ArgoCD, and respond to production incidents with blameless post-mortems. When AWS has a bad day, your runbooks keep therapy sessions running smoothly.
• • Contribute to open-source and the broader engineering community. Whether it’s releasing a React component library for tele-health or speaking at meetups about scaling WebRTC, you will represent BetterHelp’s technical brand and attract world-class talent to the mission.
