• • Allica Bank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer to join its dynamic technology team, playing a pivotal role in designing, building, and delivering the cutting-edge platforms that power the UK's fastest-growing fintech company. • • As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will lead the technical design and end-to-end delivery of complex features within a dedicated squad, ensuring the creation of secure, reliable, and accessible products. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve hands-on coding using Spring Boot microservices with Kotlin/Java for the backend and React/TypeScript for the frontend. You will be instrumental in designing features, writing code, conducting thorough code reviews, and actively mentoring junior engineers within your squad. A key aspect of the role is collaborating closely with Product Managers and Designers to translate product goals into technically feasible solutions, ensuring alignment and timely delivery.
• • You will be responsible for driving best practices across the squad, focusing on observability, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), robust security measures, optimal performance, and adherence to accessibility standards, all while maintaining the high engineering standards expected of a UK bank. This includes creating and maintaining Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) for significant technical choices, ensuring they align with organisation-wide patterns and best practices. You will also own and actively improve Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and operational metrics for the squad’s services, diligently monitoring error budgets, participating in incident response, and driving initiatives to minimize incidents and reduce Mean Time To Recovery (MTTR).
• • A significant part of your role will involve championing secure and compliant design principles. This entails applying secure coding practices, conducting threat modeling, and ensuring that logging, audit trails, and data handling processes meet stringent regulatory and privacy requirements. You will also ensure that user-facing features comply with all relevant accessibility standards. Furthermore, you will strengthen the squad’s observability capabilities by enhancing metrics, tracing, logging, dashboards, runbooks, and alerts, ensuring these tools are used effectively to maintain system health and performance. You will also drive improvements to the squad’s developer experience, refining CI/CD pipelines, optimizing test strategies, enhancing local development workflows, and streamlining release practices in alignment with broader engineering standards and cloud deployment patterns.
• • You will model and promote the responsible and effective use of Generative AI (GenAI) tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to enhance productivity and code quality. This includes validating and refining AI-generated code to ensure its correctness, maintainability, and compliance with Allica's standards. You will also contribute to documentation and feedback loops regarding AI usage in partnership with Staff Engineers. Your technical leadership will extend to providing mentorship and line management for Full Stack Engineers within the squad, fostering their technical growth, promoting a sense of ownership, and enhancing their delivery capabilities. You will maintain exceptionally high standards of code quality, comprehensive testing, clear documentation, and overall maintainability across the squad’s codebase, actively working to reduce technical debt and ensure the long-term health of the systems.
