  • • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Fund Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in managing the intricate financial operations of our venture capital funds, General Partner (GP) entities, and management companies. As a Senior Fund Accountant, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting, compliance activities, and partnership accounting within a fast-paced and evolving venture capital landscape.
  • • Your core responsibility will be to independently manage the full-cycle accounting processes for a diverse portfolio of entities, including Venture Capital Limited Partnership (VC LP) Funds, VC General Partner Limited Liability Company (LLC) entities, and Fund Management Companies. This encompasses everything from initial transaction recording to the preparation of comprehensive financial statements.
  • • A significant aspect of the role involves the meticulous preparation, review, and posting of complex journal entries (JEs). You will be expected to understand the underlying transactions and ensure they are recorded accurately and in accordance with relevant accounting principles and fund-specific requirements.
  • • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop is mandatory for this position. You will be responsible for maintaining and managing all accounting records within this system, ensuring its data integrity and efficient utilization for all fund-related accounting activities.
  • • A deep understanding of Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs) is crucial. You will be required to interpret and apply the specific provisions outlined in these agreements, which govern the relationships between the fund, its partners, and the general partner. This includes understanding capital calls, distributions, management fees, and carried interest.
  • • You will play a key role in calculating and recording partnership allocations and distributions. This involves applying the terms of the LPAs to determine each partner's share of profits, losses, and capital events, ensuring equitable and accurate distribution of fund proceeds.
  • • Maintaining accurate partner capital accounts is a critical function. This includes performing regular reconciliations and ensuring that each partner's capital balance is correctly reflected, updated, and reconciled with underlying transactions and statements.
  • • The role demands a strong capability in conducting detailed bank and balance sheet reconciliations. You will be responsible for ensuring that all cash balances and asset/liability accounts are accurately stated and reconciled on a regular basis, identifying and resolving any discrepancies promptly.
  • • You will manage the accounting for DBPP (Disguised Brokerage and Partner Payment) transactions. This specialized area requires careful attention to detail to ensure compliance and accurate financial representation.
  • • Overseeing accounts payable workflows using Bill.com is another key responsibility. You will ensure that vendor invoices are processed, approved, and paid in a timely and efficient manner, maintaining accurate records of all payables.
  • • Support for FINRA-related accounting and reporting requirements will be necessary. This involves understanding and assisting with the accounting implications and reporting obligations associated with FINRA regulations.
  • • Ensuring strict compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and fund-specific reporting standards is paramount. You will be responsible for upholding these standards in all financial reporting and accounting activities.
  • • You will collaborate effectively with a range of internal stakeholders, including investment teams, legal counsel, and senior management. Furthermore, you will liaise with external auditors and fund administrators, providing them with the necessary information and support to facilitate smooth audit processes and ongoing fund administration.
  • • This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the financial health and operational efficiency of our venture capital operations. You will be a key contributor to the success of our funds and management entities, working in an environment that values expertise, independence, and a commitment to excellence.
  • • The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, capable of working independently, taking ownership of their deliverables, and proactively identifying and addressing challenges. Your analytical prowess and meticulous attention to detail will be essential in navigating the complexities of fund accounting.
  • • You will contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls, ensuring that our financial operations remain robust, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices. Your insights and experience will be invaluable in refining our accounting systems and procedures.
  • • This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity. You will be a trusted advisor on accounting matters related to our venture capital activities.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in venture capital, fund, or partnership accounting.
  • • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop (mandatory).
  • • Proven experience interpreting and applying Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs).
  • • Strong expertise in journal entry preparation, review, and posting, with direct experience in VC LP fund accounting, VC GP LLC accounting, and Fund management company accounting.
  • • Demonstrated experience calculating partnership allocations and distributions, and performing partner capital account maintenance and reconciliations.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • • Opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative BPO company.
  • • Professional development and growth opportunities within the organization.
