📋 Description
- • Camunda is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior General Ledger Accountant to play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our financial closing and reporting processes. This is a critical position within our global finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data for our German parent entity and contributing to the smooth operation of other international entities.
- • As a Senior GL Accountant, you will be the primary owner of the month-end close process for the German entity (HGB statutory financial statements) and at least one other entity, such as Singapore. This end-to-end responsibility encompasses the preparation of complex journal entries, meticulous accruals and prepayments, accurate fixed asset accounting, thorough balance sheet reconciliations, and insightful variance analysis. Your work will directly impact the reliability of our financial reporting, enabling leadership to make informed strategic decisions.
- • A key aspect of this role involves the preparation of HGB statutory financial statements for the German entity. This includes providing essential inputs for the notes (Anhang), diligently maintaining supporting schedules like the asset register, and ensuring the complete, consistent, and audit-ready nature of the entire HGB package. Your expertise in German GAAP will be crucial in meeting these requirements.
- • You will also be instrumental in supporting both IFRS and local statutory audits. This involves preparing comprehensive audit request documentation, providing clear and complete evidence to auditors, actively participating in walkthroughs, and efficiently resolving any auditor questions. Your ability to present financial information clearly and support it with robust documentation will be vital in navigating these audits successfully.
- • To ensure a streamlined and efficient group close cadence, you will take ownership of maintaining the close calendar, continuously improving checklists and guardrails within our close management tool (FloQast preferred), and ensuring clear communication of dependencies and handoffs across all involved entities. This proactive approach will help prevent bottlenecks and maintain momentum throughout the closing period.
- • This role serves as a key escalation point for complex GL topics and non-standard transactions. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to resolve intricate accounting issues, meticulously documenting accounting conclusions in a manner that is easily understandable and reusable by others. This ensures knowledge sharing and consistency across the team.
- • A significant part of your contribution will be strengthening internal controls and enhancing documentation. This includes improving the quality and depth of reconciliations, refining close narratives, and updating accounting procedures. By making these processes more robust and transparent, you will enable the team to operate more efficiently without compromising accuracy, which is essential as Camunda continues its rapid growth.
- • You will also manage the accounting-related administration for key tools within your scope. This includes managing user permissions, optimizing workflows, and providing first-line issue resolution for accounting software. Your proficiency in these tools will ensure they are leveraged effectively to support our accounting operations.
- • Collaboration is key in this role. You will partner across finance teams (AP, Payroll, FP&A, Tax) and with cross-functional stakeholders to simplify existing processes and reduce recurring friction points. This may involve testing new process improvements, supporting automation initiatives, and ensuring that all procedures are clearly documented and easy to follow, especially within our remote work environment.
- • By taking ownership of these critical accounting functions, you will directly contribute to Camunda's financial health and operational excellence. You will be empowered to make a tangible impact, driving improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and compliance as we continue to scale globally. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape accounting practices in a dynamic, fast-growing, and fully remote organization.
