- • Administer end-to-end leave of absence programs globally, including medical, parental, disability, bereavement, and other statutory or company leaves, ensuring compliant and compassionate case management for employees across the US and Canada.
- • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers navigating leave events, providing timely guidance while maintaining strict confidentiality throughout the process.
- • Manage the workplace accommodations process in alignment with US ADA, Canadian Human Rights Act, and provincial human rights legislation, partnering with HR Business Partners and Legal to assess requests and implement reasonable solutions.
- • Monitor and update 1Password’s leave policies and practices to remain compliant with evolving federal, state, and provincial regulations across all regions where the company operates.
- • Collaborate with Payroll, Benefits, and HR Operations teams to ensure accurate leave pay calculations, benefit continuations, and system updates are processed correctly and on time.
- • Identify gaps in existing leave and accommodations infrastructure and proactively design scalable processes, documentation, and tooling to improve efficiency and consistency.
- • Design, coordinate, and execute global employee wellness initiatives focused on physical, mental, and financial wellbeing for a remote-first workforce.
- • Manage relationships with wellness vendors, evaluating program effectiveness, utilization rates, and alignment with employee needs, and making data-informed recommendations for evolution.
- • Develop and maintain a reporting framework for leave, accommodations, and wellness programs, tracking key metrics such as utilization rates, return-to-work trends, and cost drivers.
- • Translate leave and wellness data into clear, accessible summaries for People leadership, connecting program activity to broader workforce trends through monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
- • Operate with autonomy as an individual contributor with meaningful ownership over global leave and wellness programs, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
- • Partner cross-functionally with HR Business Partners, Legal, Payroll, and Benefits teams to ensure seamless, integrated employee experiences during critical life events.
- • Translate complex legal and policy requirements into plain language for employees and managers to promote understanding and compliance.
- • Comfortably operate in ambiguity, building structure and process where systems are still maturing, particularly in a fast-growing, global, remote-first environment.
- • Support the use of AI tools responsibly in daily operations, including drafting communications, synthesizing feedback, and automating workflows to enhance efficiency while preserving human-centered outcomes.
- • Contribute to the transition of leave administration from third-party vendors to an in-house model, including documentation, SOP development, and system implementation.
- • Engage with insurer case management processes and cost containment strategies related to disability programs and their impact on benefit renewals.
- • Maintain accurate records and data in HRIS and leave management systems such as UKG or Sparrow to support compliance, reporting, and operational efficiency.
- • Support French-speaking employees across Canada if bilingual in English and French.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3–5 years of experience in Leave of Absence administration, workplace accommodations, and global wellness programs
- • Experience navigating US and Canada leave regulations and compliance requirements, including federal, state, and provincial entitlements
- • Experience administering workplace accommodations under US ADA and Canadian Human Rights Act frameworks, with familiarity in equivalent global frameworks
- • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive employee situations with empathy, discretion, and sound judgment
- • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of cases simultaneously without losing attention to detail
- • Experience partnering cross-functionally with HR Business Partners, Legal, Payroll, and Benefits teams
